Skooter, myself, and RenoJohn visited The Marriott in Park City on Friday and Greg and I did a little ride around town afterwards. What we found was a perfect venue for WFO. The hotel has a coziness and charm....that I'm sure we'll all defile by Thursday afternoon with our mangy hides roll into town from various hot approach vectors.
One thing that was hugely obvious was that where the three of us had been sweltering in 104 degree heat in the Salt Lake City basin (at a mere 4500 feet)....Park City was about 10 or 15 degrees cooler and very pleasant at 7100 feet.
The lobby is very nice. A Wifi hotspot is towards the upper right.
Also, riding to the hotel I saw a HUGE amount of shops. Didn't have time to explore it all, but there's a lot to see and do within walking distance.
There's also a FREE shuttle bus and trolley system that wanders around the Park City area.
Rooms appeared decent with good fluffy stuff on the beds.
The indoor pool was, I think, the neatest part of the whole place. In a courtyard various rooms open onto it. Belly flop competition anybody?
Afterwards Skooter and I rode downtown. All I can say is that I knew Park City is where the money'ed folks hung out, but I didn't realize that every fifth person was a well-dressed young lady sporting the tightest of packages. Bejeezus! :dribble:
No pictures.....because I would have looked like a scary FJR stalker wrapped in mesh armor, flip-face helmet, and the cops would have been involved. However, I'll give you a picture of Skooter and me instead.
As we left and descended into the 7th level of hell...that is SLC summer heat I found a new and interesting benefit to the Skyway Hydration System. In the other container I had a bottle of Wasatch Polygamy Porter.
See you in Park City!
