What chance do we stand with idiots like this on the road.

I was traveling along a busy major road this morning in the van. Emerging from a side road on the opposite side was a white car. Coming towards me on the opposite side of the main road was a police car in a rush. He had his blue lights and sirens on.

The driver of the white car looked straight at the police car (or appeared to) and pulled out into its path. The cop car braked hard and swerved around the white vehicle which was setting off along the main road at a sedate speed. I didn't see the driver but imagine he/she was elderly.

If the driver looked and didn't see a flourescent orange police car with lights and sirens what chance do we stand?

The cop carried on, I just hope he memorised the plate.

Does it matter? I don't trust any cage - they're all trying to kill you.

Maybe the cage driver's brain was at the lab being cleaned. Some people travel and do things without their brains. My wife makes sure I have my brain before I leave the house. She's so good to me! :glare:

I used to work ambulance service back when I was in high school. You wouldn't believe some of the stories I could tell you. MOST of them come from drivers who were genuinely freaked at what should have been a mild emergency situation. Some people apparently CANNOT change their intended action in the face of significant unusual input. When and if they do, they generally pick exactly the wrong option.

A bit like obstacle fixation when on the track eh? A rider comes off ahead, you fixate on him or his bike instead of looking where you should be going. You either come closer than you needed to or connect.
