I just read Rich's thread on Fred Phelps' death.

I don't see the topic of FP as either political or religious. The guy was a hate-mongering thug whose activities, as I understand it, led to the formation of the motorcycle group, Patriot Guard. Yes, he was a pastor but, IIRC, that aspect of the dude's life didn't come into Rich's post

I'm genuinely confused about what can and cannot go into Completely Off-Topic Discussion. Since the Forum is motorcycle-centric, couldn't/wouldn't "completely off-topic" include anything else ??

Used to be, this place was fun AND got the Forum-as-the-go-to-site-for-all-things-FJR job done - oil, tire, and 'my candy-ass is killing me' posts notwithstanding.

Jeezers, this place has gotten to be a major yawn

It was posted in the ride report section...

And Rich asked that it be closed after what appears to be a run in with one of the management..

I'm with you regarding the Off Topic thingy though.. I always thought if it had nothing to do with FJR's or bikes in general, it went into that bin.

Oh well, times they be a changing

Again.

Simple: Off-topic is stuff not about motorcycles or FJRs, but still not religious, political, or contrary to other rules. It should be a minor part of your daily diet of FJR related forum goodness.

You can see it that way if you like too, but it doesn't change that the hate-monger in question was fundamentally based on religion, politics, divisiveness, and all about the things management has decided it doesn't want to be part of this forum. Parse all you want on intent of the OP, but the reality is the other thread would not have stuck with the PGR or riding aspects. If somebody can simply outline a way it would...send a PM. (Hint: lengthy exposition, drama, and debate won't be helpful)

And you starting another thread on it isn't helping and adding to drama that admins don't want. Go for a ride, go post something about FJRs...which this forum is about, but don't start another thread on this divisive crap. Thread closed with prejudice.
