As for me:

Back from Texarkana late Friday;

Up early saturday morning for a ride around town to visit with friends and my favorite motomechanic; back home for a quick bite, adjustment of clutch lever and definitely adjustment to higher seat position; pick up wife and then back out on the road for a quick 100 mile trip to see some bluebonnets; back home for a snack and then out again with my 6'3" son on the back for another 10 mile ride, then home - a quic wash of the blue beauty and then out to a open house party.

Tomorrow- will be up again and this time will see if I can get a 200 miler in before noon!

I'm wondering if FJRchic has broken away from NASCAR partying to get a good ride in?

Are the new 06 owners in the North just looking at thier FJRs in the garage or are y'all puttting on the cold weather wear and getting in some miles?

Would be wise to change the oil and filter and maybe the rear end lube. Whether you go to synthetic right away is up to you. Many did and have many trouble free miles.

Will change the oil and do the first check at 600 mile as suggested by Yamaha- that's why I stopped by my favorite mechanic (an independent mechanic) to tell him to get on order some filters and other neccesary oil/parts. I suspect I will be 600 miles by next weekend.

Don't even start Mike! This will just be moved to the "never ending, etc." page.

I put on about 200 miles today. I have only noticed one thing that doesn't seem to be working right. It is the Instant MPG function. It never goes above 17.0. The avg MPG is at about 41.5, and changes from time to time, but the instant goes from blank at stop, and goes up, but only to 17.0 then stays there.

Anyone else notice this?

Tom

Awwhh..just to know my "Non" electronic MPG dash readout, on my 05 super duper advanced model, colbalt blue, hyper powerful engine, with human frosty flakes energy, is absolutely flawless as I zoom down california purple mountains majesty, just makes me appreciate the scenery more than my gauges.....(smile) and what made my day even better? Meeting more 05 FJR friends near Palm Desert, california (and his wife) .. Did I just highjack this thread?

I'm still waiting for my 06,but getting out this morning (36) :haha: on my 05

Glad to know that some are getting to ride the new super-geewhizz '06s! Mine continued sitting yesterday as I was working on the design of a new Class A motorhome starting at 3:30aayemmm....joy. Maybe this afternoon I'll get outta the "Bat Cave" and get in some fun filled miles on her, I hope! Of course as it is Palm Sunday, first things first: church. ENJOY! DFO

 Picked it up Friday and I have 70 miles so far. Going on a 300 mile ride today. This is when I love living in LA (Lower Alabama), weather is great. Some are saying the computer needs more miles before the instant MPG works right. Hopefully the first person to hit the miles when it starts working correctly will let us all know. My other bike is a 2003 Suzuki Bandit and I like this one better. Got to go ride. For my friends up north, today will be sunny with a high of 75.

I was wondering. Can you get a "not hugh" motor home with a small garage door in the side, near the rear of one side. So that the door folds down making a ramp and you can put a bike in cross ways and tie it down? There could be a wall seperating the "garage" area from the living area with a walk through door. Actually a door on each side of the motor home would be good so you can ride in one side and ride out the other.

I thought that would be cool. Then, you travel around staying in the warmer climates and have the bike for transportation rather than having to tow a car.

Ever seen that?

Saw one like you're describing about a year ago at Powersports and RV in Ottawa. Definately a good idea.

As for riding :erm: Insurance broker screw up means I won't be able to pick up mine until Monday. It's supposed to be sunny and in the low 50's.

Not to be whinning, well yeah I guess I am, but I'll bet I could order the motorhome and it'll be here before the 06.

Hate waiting!

After the blue bomb gets here, I will be changing the oil after 20 to 50 miles with non synthetic oil until breakin and then any type you want. Any new or re-ringed engine should probablly follow this, right Mike? Oh, don't want to get something started. Just kidding. PM. <>< :D

OK, since I started this thread I had better answer: Today was a great day in central texas with temps 68-75 degrees for todays ride.

I still haven't quite figured out how to post pics here, but have a web site where I have posted many pics of the 2006 FJR- check them out, especially the FJR in the bluebonnets!

https://web.mac.com/joanrichburg/iWeb/B852A...2006%20FJR.html

The only problem with riding the FJR so much is now I have to bring it in for the initial 600 mile check up soon- almost feels like I am giving it back- I want to ride more!

John

thank you for posting the beautiful pictures. I am so ready to pick up mine! Hey, wait a minute, are you sure that one is yours?

seriously, I am so green with envy. The rain continues to fall in Oregon and my FJR is a couple of weeks away from delivery.

Vicaciously as they say, that's what us waiters get to do... ;)

Got to put a couple hundred miles on over the weekend, temps were 45 or below, I need a taller windscreen & why the hell did they fix the heat problem! :D

John, nice report.
Now meet us at 0830 this Saturday the 15th at OST restaurant in Bandera so we can see the bike in person.
Mike,

I think I have every FJR owner in Central Texas contacting me to meet them.

Tomorrow I am meeting someone at a local burger place and this weekend meeting a group from Kileen likely in Wahlberg...

Bandera is also a nice palce to meet... maybe another time...

John
