I'm getting off I-70 at Evergreen and notice a cop has pulled over someone on a scooter. Anyone who rides a scooter on I-70 westbount on a Fri afternoon in the mountains outside Denver is moron. Not a big scooter.... a small one. Not related to the story...just interesting.

Anywho, I'm coming down the big hill near my house and up ahead a cop has turned around in the road. The traffic slows down as everyone sees the bluelights. Everyone except the guy behind me in a cobra (or cobra replica). I hear screeching tires and next thing I know the cobra is next to me on the right veering off the side of the road. With his brakes locked he rolls past me.

My first thought was "thank you God!" My next thought was "I don't want to be in a wreck from within a few days of installing my heli clamp!!"

Now if I wasn't wearing my ATGATT my first thought would've been "Help me God cuz I'm not wearing my ATGATT!"

I am more encouraged to add an "Ice" velcro patch & card to my jacket.

ATGATT - you always need it whether or not you realize it or care or understand or have the time to put it on.

Ride like everyone's trying to kill you. Keep an eye out 360 degrees. Plan your escape route ahead of time....

It's all about staying alive...

I have to hand it to the Cobra driver, even thought he ****** up big time he didn't make it worse by taking you out but making the sacrifice and head for the shoulder.

I was in a similar situation on an interstate where I was in the middle lane of three and things started coming to a sudden halt. I was able to stay in my lane because both cars in either lane beside me swerved away from me. Since I saw what was happening ahead of me I was able to slow down slow enough that the guy behind me was able to stop with no problem. Leaving me in a nice big pocket. Could have been much worse.

I always think of Starsky and Hutch.

If it was YEEEEHAAAA!, I would have said the Dukes.

Had a similar incident last year - a truck missed my son and by less than a foot and was doing a good 30mph past us. I do believe "this is the one that gets me" was the thought when I heard the screech. I've had other close calls, this is the only one I remember having to pull over to the side of the road for to catch my breath.

Well as it happens Im pulling up to a light in Willits Ca. today and hear that very sound I look in my mirrors and there is a big ol jacked up 4X4 right on my ***. all I could see in the mirrors was the left and right half of a chevy emblem. I was toast if he hadn't got her shut down.

I thought damn vacation is officially over!
