Ignacio has a picture pinned above. It's the first good shot of a lit up dash on a 2006 FJR. Is that a shift light off to the right???

Interesting. All reports up to now had been that indeed, it was a shift light. But, I just read the owner's manual you linked to, and sure enough, you were right.

Me thinks something is amiss however. The owner's manual was only for the "A" model.

Perhaps its only the "AE" model that will come with a shift light, to make sure non-riding dolts like BrunDoggie know when to shift? :D

We shall see. Sooner than later hopefully.

Ari,
According to page 3-2 of the owner's manual,  that's the "Engine Trouble Warning Light".

Link to Yamaha manual download page - 2006 FJR is available.
First, thanks for the link. That manual is going to come in handy.

Also, thanks for finding the page in the manual. Looking at the PDF at 400%, there's no disputing that an engine warning light is what's shown - just as you say. I'll be darned if I can't make out a different display in Ignacio's pic above, though. Ignacio's pic seems to have the word "SHIFT" immediately to the left of the graphic for engine trouble and the light. Maybe the AE has a slightly different dash? Maybe the dash wasn't finalized at the time of the manual or the photo?

WTF? I am casually reading this post, only to find I am *****-slapped behind my back?

If you don't cut the crap, I am gonna start lying about my miles.

Ok, BD has been personally insulted, which is against the rules. SkooterG, you have to spank youself and give yourself a warning on your very own spank-o-meter. BD don't get no respect. :D
