Okay, first I'm a *******. I left the bike on for about oh,14 hrs :dribble: . I go out and find the problem rather quickly,it's dead! Charge it up for about an hour through the powerlet, all the lights go on,makes the usual whirring and gauges go to the right and back,as usual. I try to start it and get this horrendous clicking from the dash panel area, and then bathed in the glowing green light the #12 comes up, I look it up and get *No normal signals from crankshaft position sensor* can ANYBODY tell me wtf I did?! Also, it was on the centerstand if that helps. This is my last day to ride, after today it's work, sleep, work, sleep wake up tie up all loose ends, get married. THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

The bike not starting...............for now anyway. She's as good as they get, even the occasional *** blasting contest is lost by me! I'm 215 and 6' she's 5'10 and 120 small package, big punch! Plus she gets to carry a gun everywhere. Pretty ,smart and armed, how can I go wrong?

Just a guess, But maybe the crank in "in between" the sensors? Maybe try to bump start it?
That's what I was thinking of doing next, just didn't wanna screw something else up! Gonna try it now, just thought it was an odd code to come up when it hasn't moved in awhile, thanks.

Tried bump starting it,no joy. But the evil # 12 disappeared :yahoo: . Now I'll just wait for the tender to do its job since I live in the middle of the block and all the water drains into the sewer next door; uphill both ways! Also, it's just me tonight, she works midnight's so no extra push juice for me!

agree with the battery

With trepidation I wonder, what is an "*** blasting contest"?

When one inadvertantly drains the battery down to absolute zero, you can have every confidence that one or more of the cells have been "killed" and will no longer hold a charge. Once this happens, no matter how long you charge it, this battery is toast.

Here you go ==> Time for a new battery for you.....

Umm, I'm not really sure how to take that comment...I'm leaning towards too much information...
In other words just me ,myself and I, no extra energy source. It was late I shoulda known that would leave me open but I was a wee bit tired ;) . Well, it started fine after I awoke this morning. I'm sure I need a replacement but ,I'll just run w/ it for now and order a new one when we get back from Hawaii at the end of the month. I'll take it for a ride to the s.side later on, that should give it some time to charge a liitle more. Thanks guys, I'll order that westco when I get home WC thanks, money's a little tight right now due to the wedding, afterwards I get my play money acct back :yahoo:

I believe the term is "sulfated". The plates are now covered permanently with a layer of sulfate that resists charging.

Also, as we head into the colder weather, I predict a rash of batteries that go bad.

I did the same thing a while back on my FZ1. Left the key on with headlights blazing. The battrey was dead as a door nail. First thing I did was take it to a local Yamaha dealer (I was 165 miles from home). They checked the cells and put it on a hot charger. I was good to go after that. I was ready (but hoping I didn't have to) to purchase a new battery. The battery worked as good as before (and it was already three years old). No problems.

If it were mine I'd put it on a Battery Tender for the whole time I was in HI. Check it out by test riding, etc when I got home. It might just be OK then. Nothing is really lost by not trying this except perhaps a few days of ridng when you get back. I guess the exception would be if I had a ride planned for the first few days I was back & just didn't want to chance it not being OK. Best of luck.
