not sure about the knock sensor (i assume it would but dont know for sure)

as for the efi, it uses a MAP sensor. Manifold Absolute Pressure.

It is a speed density fuel injection system. It has no knock sensor.

That answer gentlemen (phoneman91), you can take to the bank.....& by the way....welcome to the forum.... :good: .....
SD injection can have a KS. But I suspect that you are right--it is SD. It would be difficult to have MAF sensor when the bike has four throttle body intakes.

And thanks for the welcome. This is a very informative forum and it is good to see that guys are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the FJR.

uh..... You asked what type of fuel injection system it was. And you asked whether it had a knock sesnor. Two separate questions and thus two separate answers. Having a knock sensor (or not) has nothing to do with whether it is speed density or mass air flow. Heck, there were carbureted engines in production with knock sensors.....and speed density fuel injection sytems without knock sensors. They are two separate systems.

BTW...it would not be too hard for Yamaha to have put a single plug-in MAF in the air inlet plenum between the air cleaner and the throttle bodies. Having multiple throttle bodies does not preclude a MAF at all. You just need to find a single air entry point such as the air cleaner inlet/exit. And just because it has a MAP sensor does not necessarily mean it is speed density. Many MAF systems these days have MAP sensors also.
