Greetings from Atlanta.

I picked up my new-to-me 2006 FJR from a very nice gentleman in NC with 11K miles about ten days ago. It's in fantastic shape with nary a scratch on it; I can't believe how much I like this bike!

A brief history of my motorcycling odyssey: I started riding again about three years ago after a several years layoff due to life with kids (my 1985 Honda Interceptor is in the garage with gunked up carbs. Ughhh...). Anyway, I went the cruiser route and started with a 2004 Harley sporty 1200 which was nice and fun, but it just didn't have the guts to transport me and my not quite as petite as she used to be love-of-my-life wife around in comfort and "authority" so..., I decided to upgrade the Harley and found a very good deal on a very low mileage 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner. The Strat is a VERY NICE cruiser as it goes, but I have plans to do a solo cross country to Oregon this spring and I decided that I probably should get something that can make miles in reasonable comfort. After doing much research on the web, I settled on the FJR and have zero regret.

My impressions of the FJR are completely positive at this time. The stability at speed and handling in the curves is an adrenalin rush. My biggest problem is speed control. It's way too easy to go fast! I do suspect that the speedometer is a little generous and haven't confirmed the actual speed with my GPS, but even if it is off as much as I suspect, it's still a cruising machine.

So far, I don't find the reported stiff throttle to be objectionable. Having experience with a Harley, I find the transmission as smooth as butter. I also don't find the bar vibration to be a problem (the bike came with Helibar risers).

At this point, I have the inactive Interceptor, awesome Stratoliner, and sublime FJR. I don't know how I'm going to find time for the Strat with the FJR in the stable.

BTW, I would have posted in the new member section, but is seems to allow only one post???

Anyway, long Ashes to you all...

Hey Harleystar, Congrats on picking up that low mileage 06.

As the owner of an 07 Stratoliner I can speak from experience. I've only put a 100 miles on it since I bought the FJR.

In that time the FJR has added about 13K. Wife keeps saying sell it. She is right but the Strat is a fine cruiser.

I just don't cruise any more.

Welcome to the FJR family. I bought a used 06 ealrier this year and did a trip to Idaho from ATL (7500 miles). Having come from Harleys, I am loving the FJR for long distance and weekend twisties.

After 17 years on HD..I made the switch to an 07AE this summer. The love affair has begun!! I agree that it is a magnificient machine. I agree that it is just too easy to go fast. So now I have two HD's up for sale!! LOL....Enjoy you will never go back..

Welcome to the family. If you think you're feeling different now, just wait. The FJR is like a drug. You live in Atlanta: months from now, you'll have some rotten weather and will walk by your FJR to take the cage instead. It's then that you'll stop and look at the FJR and realize that you feel very different about this bike, and the feeling only gets stronger with time.

Below freezing temps and the possibility of ice in the early morning has forced me to cage it to work for the last two weeks.

Snow forecast for Monday :(

Not looking forward to the next 4 months. Hopefully this forum can help me keep some semblance of sanity
