Being one tough ass winter, me and a couple of buddies were reflecting last nite (hump-nite w craft brews at Eddie O'Briens Pub!) on what we have easily accessible vs the hard(er) to reach places. Yes, we were talking about the playing field we use within our sport. Feel free to post your frequently easy/close terrain along w your harder/farther and/or maybe even your bucket list goal locations.

Central NY is pretty boring (riding wise) except the lower part, we call it the Southern Tier. It's easily less than an hour away and makes it almost too easy for a destination, more like a bored, let's go get a sandwich somewhere place to go.

Now to the good stuff (dream land). Since I'm an East Coast guy, I wanna go coastal! West Coast that is...

Getting there through some straight and boring roads wouldn't be bad either...

Photo-op friendly places will work too!

So most see it as the grass is greener on the other side of the fence road is better on the other side of the Mississippi. Well for my biking world, that holds a lot of truth. I'll keep my bucket list active. For now I'll just be jealous of all you guys and gals living in these places with so much at your fingertips. "Don't take it for granted" is what tourists say about where I live (but they are mainly drooling over the lakes and about a million wineries) whereas I see and want something much different, so I will say it to a few of you lucky ones out there; "don't take it for granted" :)

Cheers and ride safe my friends.

Holy floaters! Yeah, you are spot on Don, we were thinking about laying down some rubber. I don't know what our real 'man' minds were thinking!

I'm thinkin' I need to do another west coast trip in 2015. I have lots of vacation time........
I'm with ya! And now that you don't have that square tire (anymore), we'll have to have a tire change or two on our trip!

Why for is that guy on the wrong side of the road? Must be from Fl.
It's like Vermont, OK to pass on the double solid.

....Passing you say? Yep, his riding buddy has a BMW cloaking device installed ;)

I have good riding where I live, in the Catskills, but I like to ride new and different roads whenever possible. I have ridden in all of the lower 48 states and hit most of the roads that people on this forum talk about and recommend. Lots of good stuff.

This year I am more in sight seeing mode and want to see a few sights that I have missed. I have never seen one of those big funky cacti that you see in the roadrunner cartoons. In April this year I'm heading to south Texas and riding west until I see some.

I agree with the OP. Where I want to ride is west of the Mississippi. Where I live in the northeast sucks @ss for riding. Planning a ride to (at least) Montana in May. I've done several coast to coast runs in my cager which were fun but on my bike it should be something special. Especially on those lonely back roads.

I likey the Cats' ...a lot! You got a great area for sure, especially considering it's still in freeqn NY!

Say Greg, I got your first stop all planned out... (and no, they won't take handle-bar mustache rides in trade either!)

I hope the cacti don't all have that ugly appendage.

Not sure where that car wash is, but I will spend an evening or two in New Orleans on my way down.
