Obviously I meant what's the weather like. I'll be darned if I can figure out how to edit a topic title. Anyway...

Thinking of taking a little trip next week. I could head south via the Blue Ridge Parkway, which I've done a couple of times. Or.....I could head north around the fingerlakes of N.Y. and up into the Adirondacks, which I have not done. Question is...what can I expect weatherwise in the New York heartland.

I guess what I really want to know is how chilly can I expect it to be up there, this time of year?

What can you tell me folks? This will most likely be my last opportunity for a trip this year and I want to make it a good'n. North.....or......South?

Mo,

I used to live in Seneca Falls for a number of years which is at the tip of the middle finger of the finger lakes with Ithaca being at the bottom. Temps can get into the 40's at night and are usually high 50's to 60's during the day so it wouldn't hurt to bring along some heated clothing. Leaves will definitely be turning color, winerys will be hopping, apple orchards are ripe for picking, and overall the weather should be pretty good. Roads in that area are generally pretty good and free of traffic. Have a fun trip.

50's to freezing overnight. If the sun's out in daytime then 65-80. If cloudy in daytime, then 60-70.

Nice time of year, plus all the summer tourista crowds have gone. Still traffic on the BRP this time of year, gets worse the close it gets to leaf turning. Don't wait till November to hit the Adirondacks though...

Did an Adirondack roundabout a few years ago and it was quite nice.

It dropped below 40 F in the Catskills recently but it warmed up into the 60's during the day and we are expecting warmer weather this weekend. Warm enough that I'm planning on tenting near Ithaca Friday and Saturday nights. It rained all day today but the forecast is for better weather starting tomorrow.

You won't see much color on the trees yet but there is a little. Not enough to attract a lot of traffic.

I've never been up that way this time of year. I have a friend from up that way, but she's not a rider. I don't have any heated gear and I didn't want to freeze my butt off up there. So it sounds as though the consensus is, that won't happen.

Maybe I'll just end up putting maps on the floor and play spin the bottle. I used to do this with girls...now I do it with maps. What happened?

Thanks for the input guys.

Anybody ever done the Nanchez Trace?

It's not bad this time of year, as long as it's not raining. The temps are reasonable, although, as everyone else said, it can get cool. Very pretty color and it's the last hurrah before the snow flies. Come on up!
