I mean really...

Have you ever used the switch for anything useful? Do you know anyone who has? I've been riding for about 35 years now (pretty good trick since I'm still 29 again this year...) and I can't ever recall it being of use to me or anyone I know.

I could see the Harley guys using it if they're using a mag setup and kick start, but c'mon, it's 2009.

I know drag racers use it for arming a shift kill switch for faster shifting, also for arming the NOx systems.

I'm thinking of using it for something truly useful, like a garage opener or something.

Oh well, I suppose this can get sent to NEPRT. If it's Friday where you live, feel free to dog pile; we haven't had one of those in what, 4 or 5 hours or so??

You can be the judge of how useful this is, but I actually use mine frequently. If I come to a stop on an incline, I don't want to take my hand of the brake to turn off the switch, so I hit the kill switch then let out the clutch (while still in gear) to use as a parking brake. Then I take my hand off the brake and put down the side stand.

I'm fully aware that there are other ways to accomplish that, but it's my preferred method.

I use it on my FJ1200 quite frequently-especially in tunnels and next to pedestrian chicks. Not recommended to use it for more than a count of three tho-don't ask how I know..

I've used it twice to shut down the engine in an other than "shiny parts up" configuration. It's hard sometimes to reach the keys when your bike's on top of you and still running (back tire turning...etc.). I found it quite handy actually. Rarely use it otherwise.

Just sayin'

i shut the bike off every time using the kill switch. always have on every bike that's had one.
yep...me too.

Me too. That's the way that the MSF teaches. Starting up the bike follows FINE-C for fuel, ignition, neutral, engine cut-off and choke/clutch.
Same here. I've never turned a bike off just with the key.

Ummmm, shouldn't your tipover switch have taken care of that?

+1... Use mine the same way for the same resones.

I would never, remove it, just in case I crash.

I always use it ti shut off the bike, this way my brains knows where it is, and will react faster if ever it has too

Once I saw a lady that crashed her bike, in the accident the cable went full throttle, she was stucked under the bike, and people where looking at her, they we're scared to approach the bike.

I arrived on the scene about 1 minute after she was on the ground, and I went to shut off the switch, she told me after, that this minute seems like an hour for her, she never think of that switch....
