Ok, so I have the 2003.

It's missing the front fork reflectors down by the front brake calipers.

Aah, no biggie. I waltz into my local Yamaha Dealer and ask them to order the reflectors.....

$80 DOLLARS...WHAT? Last I checked, it said Yamaha on the side, I didn't see BMW anywhere in there!

For the two reflectors, mounting brackets, bolts and washer, 80$. The washers are $3 dollars a piece. Please explain to me what a $3 dollar washer does...

He said many folks take the reflectors, brackets, and washers off their bikes due to looks. I was trying to do the opposite and make the bike look completely stock.

Has anyone taken off their reflector kits due to not liking them, and if so, do you still want them? How much?

I think I have these in my bin-o-parts. I can check tonight and let you know.

bram, I think you have to x2 that list of fun. One for each side. My bad, $5 dollar washer. Man, that's nuts. They aren't bashful at all.

Tmc, that would be awesome. Let me know what you need for them.

And, that is what I put. Each side is $21.49

Note that there may well be 2 screws or nuts that hold the bracket to the forks that don't show on the fiche that need to be added to each side.

The screws that hold the reflector are part of the reflector. So that is all you need. The washers may still be on the bike under the head of the bold that hold the calipers on. Buy them and stop being so cheap. I take mine off when ever I do a service to the front end and wash them in hot water to get them real clean. So they can be seen from far away. Arrive alive!!! :yahoo: :yahoo:

It's an idea...hm

I love returning things to stock/show room condition. Some might not be into it, but oh well.

I did order new signal lenses/covers for the front signals. Should be here today or tomorrow. That will add to a clean look as well add to vision of others.

No shame in bringing something back to stock in my book.

Oh yeah, Bramfrank, that site is awesome. Thank you again:

DJB, I'm not being "cheap", I'm being...."frugal"....lol....ok, I was being cheap, but the dealer wanted double what these folks are asking.

on my '04, I just pulled the calipers and pads to clean while front wheel was off

the reflectors are on brackets with holes at the top and bottom...the caliper bolts go through those holes to hold on the reflector brackets

I found it very diffictult to get a socket on the caliper bolts because the reflector brackets get in the way...easy to get a open wrench on them, but very slow to screw/unscrew

I ended up forcing the socket on flexing the reflector bracket partially out of the way, but it tended to be on the nut at a slight angle, and I did round of a bit of the points of the caliper bolts

I ordered brake pads ($29/set) and went ahead and ordered new caliper bolts ($2)

Believe me...bringing something back to stock is a fine goal...car enthusiasts have been doing it for years.

However, purposely paying $$ for reinstalling a govt mandated item that has no motorcycle function other than to satisfy a bureaucrat's decision...is not returning something to "stock" imo.

BTW, my bike is usually pretty stock....butt ;) I have enjoyed the Russell seat, 50% brighter than stock headlight bulbs, the speed bleeders, the Garauld removeable backrest, the tank bag...all of which I consider integral with my bike.

It's for this reason that most remove the reflectors and/or take a dremmel to them and clearance anough room to get a socket on. Just a suggestion before you get it "Totally Stock".

Don't you have a car tire to install or something? :p

By the way, what's all that HTML code in your signature? Doesn't look like it survived the migration to the new software intact.

I am, of course, just ribbin' ya about the car tire.
