That's a nice stand! Great find!

I don't like the instability of the bike rocking back and forth when removing the wheels while lifted on the header pipes. I get an eerie feeling it's gonna fall.

I made one of these a couple years ago:

and I'm using it for all my front end work but it is a "contraption" to store, set up, and use. Great for removing the front wheel for any big service tasks but not so easy to use for something simple like rotating the wheel around around to find the valve stem or to clean the front wheel. That's where a race stand would do better.

Maybe, but a simple scissor jack under the header pipes works too.
Roll-about floor jack with a 1x2 piece of wood under the header pipes works good too

. Tried and true method, been doing it this way for a lot of yrs. I even modified my piece o' wood- jack up the bike and start it. Pipes scorch indentations into the wood. Now it's a custom fit!!

Just pick up a cheap fork race stand. Work great.

I can use this one on my FJR, TL, KLR, DR ......

With that stand can you lift the front wheel while on the center stand and with the rear wheel installed? I found that while trying to lift the front up with a stand like this (possibly different dimensions) that the rear wheel will come in contact with the ground before I can get the stand in place.

I ended up using the floor jack/wood under the headers technique since the stand couldn't be used.

These guys are local to me. Web page says its not recommended for FJR with ABS. Am thinking if their product risks damaging the ABS then its likely all similar products run same risk: https://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0100-100.html

Perhaps there are others which poke in the hollow axle which would be more appropriate for cleaning but not wheel removal.

The original FJR "skyhook" (2002). Many use it. Storing is as easy as turning the feet 1/4 turn and leaning it against a wall of sliding it behind a cabinet.

Seen here when I was doing stuff to my bike. I've used it (3/4" pipe) to lift the whole bike by strapping to the frame struts under the front seat.

I've yet to find a front stand that will work in conjunction with the center stand while the rear wheel is installed. If the rear is off, I can use my Pit Bull front stand without issue.

Are those black tabs lifting the bike under the engine?
yes, the left under the drain plug and the right has a + shaped thing hanging down, i remove the nearest cowling bolt on each side so there is no stress on the cowling

Nice price! That's what I use and needed a second one for my motorcycle school. Thanks!
