Wondering if anyone knows the nuts and bolts of how the FJs are dealt out to the dealers.

I picked up a bike that someone else had ordered then needed to back out from back in March. It is suppose

to come in July or Sept but as I see on this forum there are bikes sitting on show room floors else where.

I am starting to worry I may need the snow plow option ( I live in Vermont) if it does not

come in soon.

Great Forum, can't wait to use all the good advice.

Some dealers, gambling on a strong market for FJRs, have ordered "extras" under phantom names (mechanics, girlfriends, secretary's, etc.) and have them on the showroom floor.

You must make your own decision and deal.

My dealer was giving me the runaround on the AE saying it wouldn't be in till august when he originally told me April/May. I took my deposit back and found a dealer that had the A in stock and made a deal. I will NEVER put a deposit down on a bike again, no matter how good the bike is.

Your post is actually a little confusing, but let me adress one issue. The bikes that are sitting on showroom floors were ordered just like any other FJR. The dealer sent MamaYama a $500 deposit with someones name on it (likely an employee of the dealership). So those bikes came in somewhat in the order they were ordered.

When was the one you took over actually ordered into the system? Has the dealer actually shown you the order confirmation from MamaYama? That's where I would start trying to understand when it should be here. I ordered mine in early January, and had it the beginning of May. But that is one advantage to buying from D&H. They have so many orders that it is not unusual for people ahead of you in line to cancel, moving you up in line.

I was originally told that my 06 "A" model would be in in August. I figured that w/ my luck that meant the 31st at best. Dealer contacted me the day before yesterday and said it was scheduled to arrive on 20JUL06. Needless to say that made me happy except, that's the last day of my vacation and I will be out of town. Will have to wait until the next week to pick up the scoot.

I wouldn't condemn the process because a bad dealer screwed it up. When I ordered a 03 from a local dealer, they screwed me too. I never got the order confirmation letter that others did. I called and was told that they didn't know anything about it, couldn't tell when it would be here blah, blah, blah. When a friend ordered one from another dealer the day before I did, and got his in July, called the dealer again. Once again they told me they didn't know, blah, blah, blah. I canceled the order, and they returned my deposit. I bought one from Sunnyside then.

I ordered the 06 from the same dealer my friend did in 03. Ordered the bike in Oct. and recieved it the beginning of April. No problems, no fuss.

People complain about the PDP, but it created a market that I sold my 03 for $7K with 84,000 miles on it. Not bad, and I never would have gotten that without the PDP in effect.

I posted this earlier today. I got a call late today that my bike had come in. Instead of the last day of my vacation, it comes in on the first day. Either way, I have to wait until the 20 somethingth to pick it up. I guess i can't complain though.

Maybe ours were on the same boat!

Maybe, I got a call this morning to see if I wanted to have the bike Sat morning. I guess I could squeeze a visit into town for that.

Trading in my 2002 Kaw Mean Streak, had a Yamaha Seca 900 before that ( had that one since new! ) anyway the Mean Streak has been a good, dependable bike but the time I wanted to get home quicker and took the interstate instead of the two lane it's days were numbered.

I am pretty excited to be about to own a machine that is state of the art and at the top of it's class.

Found out in May the dealer was getting an A for the floor scheduled for Aug. Put down 500 mid May. He called me the first part of this month, bike was in. I picked it up last friday. Sold the goldwing for this bike, not looking back, best thing I have done so far.
