If you get all the way up to Eureka you have to eat at the Samoa Cookhouse. There is a great camping spot up in Jedediah Smith State park right off the 101. I can't remember the name but Shiny Parts might remember. Very pretty just knock on the host door for wood after 10pm like Shiny did.

Um good...

...I hope to ride with and meet many of you during this trip to NorCal and other points....
Señor Wheaton, I hope to share a few miles with you while you're out here

in motorcycling heaven. It'll be friggin' beautiful in May. See you then!
Remember Wheatie, OM only requires 10 minutes notice.

As for me, I have a lot more riding time available for short trips in 2011. Not sure yet if this will constitute a long trip yet, but I'd like to rty to meet up for a day with some NorCal hombres and yourself. I'll look for your planning post.

Mark -- even if 108, 120 and 4 are still closed on Memorial Day, 80, 50 and 88 are year round and will be no problem. Unlike Tom, I'm not that certain that 108 (Sonora Pass), 120 (Tioga Pass) and 4 (Ebbetts Pass) will be closed when you come out. They usually open sometime in May, more often in mid to late May, and only occasionally in early June. It's really hard to say that there's enough snow yet (certainly isn't that much yet at the resorts around Donner Summit) to call it the kind of heavy snow year to anticipate a June opening of those passes at this time.
Snow pack is looking healthy, but I agree with this. My point was not to count on seasonal passes, not that riding is very limited. We usually see Ebbitts and Sonora open in Mid-May, and Tioga near Memorial Day. That still leaves 70, 80, 89, 50, and 88, with lots of riding in the Sierra and Foothills, not to mention the coast. Spring is nice since heavy fog is not common on the coast then, and other than a few mountain passes, everything is definitely in play.

I'm looking for a break to bring a bike over from Reno (Donner Pass), and will jump on the first break of dry weather we get. Today looks like a foot or two of snow over the passes, so Wednesday is stacking up as a ski day.
