(No not a debate about which oil is better....just trying to save some money and find a good distributor)

I am trying to find a good place to buy oil from. I figure who would go through more oil than continent crossers? You guys should surely know of the best places to buy oil.

It would be nice if some people could post what kind of oil they are buying, where they are buying it from, and what they are paying for it.

Thanks!

Guess I could start:

Yamalube basic non-synthetic

Dealership locally

$9 canadian a litre.

Wouldn't it be nice? Nobody ever does that here though. If only we could live in the moment and only the moment. Whatever is said now is always somehow more important than what was well-reasoned before or the time before that.

I personally believe everything they say here and especially here....and anybody that says different is evil, has questionable lineage, and kills puppies for sport. But, I understand how hyperlinks are ignored over what is spewed in the moment. So carry on. ;)

That is more than a bit irritating. Nothing in there helps me and yes I had looked through there.

I'm trying to find a good place to buy my oil for less. I don't care about any of this:

So now you move this thread to limbo and I will never find a good place to buy quality oil for cheap.

Thanks! :(

You missed the other link. It's all been said there before.....dozens and dozens of times....and some even repeated in this thread.

You're welcome! We love to help out lazy people. :)

Not to worry though....there will be plenty of people along to repeat it all for the 145th time.

Oh....somebody already did! Thanks forum!

I vote for Wal-Mart, like 'chooser did, but Iggy, I gotta ask, what's different about your links that cause them to open in the same window, instead of opening in a 2nd tab (using Firefox)? Usually, every linky-thingy I click opens a 2nd tab/window.

Hmmmmmm.......

Since you brought my name up (without the usual commission/permission I might add) I thought I'd include THIS little off-topic piece of info and mention I had NOTHING to do with it!!!

Steve-O, Can I pay you in ball sweat, belly button lint and stale beer farts? I am as rich as Midas in those commodities.

Being serious for a moment, that is tragic ecological news regarding the surge of manatee deaths in Florida; Shocking!!

Wal Marts are everywhere

no issues with Shell Rotella synthetic (one gallon in dark blue jug for $20 and one quart for $6)

plus a 7217 Supertech filter for $2.50
+1, Gunny! Mike's right, you can't get a better deal than Wally World on FJR oil and FJR oil filter!

I just take the oil I find in beemerdons cabinets in the garage, free.

Gunny Wally woild. Also check Kragen, Shucker's, etc., for sales. I have bought Rotella-T dino there for US$9.99/gallon. IMO stealers oil is a commodity rip off. Yammer doesn't refine/manufacture the oil or engineer it, oil companies do. So buy oil from oil company’s and not the third party distributer that has their name now stuck on the container and charges you triple for it (my 2 cents).

Every so often we chime in on sales, watch for them. Also check online.

Hope this helps.

I assume you are in Canada... We pay even MORE for oil up here but I usually keep my eyes open for a Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W40 (Blue Jug) sale at Canadian Tire. Seems to go on sale for ~$22 or so a few times per year although its sometimes hard to find. I usually buy 3 or 4 (4 litre) jugs at a time. A 4L jug is just right for a FJR oil change - just enough more volume than the American 4 qt. jugs so you don't need any extra. I never pay dealer prices for their rebranded hydrocarbon gold and while I have used Amsoil and Mobil synthetics in the past, I can't bear to pay the $10-$13 per litre cost that most places charge. I have never had an issue with the Rotella Synthetic oil and I think this opinion is shared by many.

I like the Mobil 1 premium oil filters (M1-110, I think) and CT has started to carry them but at almost $15, I'll sometimes pick up a filter or two when I am south of the border. Unfortunately, Cdn Wal-marts around here do not carry the Supertech filters. As for final drive fluid, I just use a CT multi-viscosity synthetic. Its fairly cheap so I change it about every second oil change.

Hope this helps.

Ross

By the way, don't worry about a thread being banished to NEPRT. I sometimes find they get the best responses there as long as you can wade through some of the crap that also shows up!

Thanks gents. Do appreciate the input.

Well after working through what I could find on this forum and on google, there are only two ways (I think) I can pay less than I am right now to a point where it justifies the trouble.

Walmart does seem like the way to go. I really didn't want to change the type of oil I'm buying because I know it and have used nothing else. But I can change to Mobil-1 10W40 basic non-synthetic I guess. I was hoping they'd carry synthetic 10W40 but they don't and I am a poor, poor man who can't afford to go elsewhere.

Thanks for the push to Walmart.

It's too bad there isn't a place you can buy synthetic oil for cheap online.

Be careful of normal 10W40 car oils. Many have "energy saver" additives that may not play nice with wet clutches. The truck diesel oils (i.e. Rotella) do not have these additives and have added zinc phosphates for better extreme pressure applications.

I don't know if you have anything similar to Advance Auto Parts in Canada. But Valvoline 4-stroke Motorcycle Oil (at $4.49/qt.) is what I'm purchasing nowadays.
Jeff, it is not synthetic is it? Is there an advantage over non synthetic Rotella T? Seems the cost is almost same as a gallon of Rotella T synthetic so wondering if you feel it is better.

I am thick headed and only buy stuff with pictures of motorcycles on the front, lol.

Just ordered two cases of this stuff. Spent a fair bit of time finding lowest cost options for motor oil. Couldn't find anything for well priced motor oil I would be willing to use except for this stuff:

https://store.avlube.com/mob1mx104cyc1.html

They do ship to Canada but you have to call them at 1-800-666-6457 to process the order since their online ordering system isn't set up for Canadian addresses.

Better than the $9 a quart I was paying for Yamalube non-synthetic at dealerships and except for stuff like Rotella I couldn't find anything cheaper.

Hope this helps anyone looking for cheaper options for oil.
