Took a 360 mile jaunt to see Gannet Peak yesterday (Wyoming's highest mountain), headed to a little town called Cora.

Man are the animals out enjoying spring! 2 moose right off the road in a canyon, and deer and antelope all over. Three different times had little herds of deer (6-10) cross the road in front of me... Quite a few antelope and deer grazing right along the roadways... Then I came over a rise on a paved county road--a buck antelope is on the road and takes off running with me, I'm only going 25-30, and he's bounding from one side to another because of the cattle fences; he finally sees a downed fence post and bolts over.

If you're headed out that way, I'd really recommend to keep your speed in check as the little buggers are bound to ruin somebody's day, and seem to have no fear or concern about humans right now. Half of 'em weren't bigger than a big dog, but still...

Keep an eye out in New Jersey, too! Was coming back from RI thursday night and was cruising down the middle lane of the Garden State Parkway, north of Montclair and the Oranges, and there was a big-*** deer down right across the middle of the lane.

No pics? :(

+1 - I fell in love with the beauty of western Wyoming during my only visit there almost 30 years ago. I saw this topic title and was waiting to see pics!

(good advice/reminder though, so good post, but still...)

Someday I will return, maybe to stay if I could figure out how to a) convince the wife, B) earn a living :)

Took the camera and didn't take a single pic. :(

Just havin' such a damn good time all by my lonesome only stopped twice for gas. Really should have, massive mountains just covered in snow jutting up into a blue sky. Both the Teton Range and the Wind River Range...

Perhaps this will help. ;) Taken Saturday afternoon east of Jackson Lake. Puffy clouds, deep blue sky, and frozen lakes with shades of blue being the theme of the day?

Wow, Iggy - I'd take the full res version of that pic and make it my desktop wallpaper. Very nice.

I put a 1600 version out here. Sorry to the OP...I figured a picture of this beautiful state over the weekend might compliment things. ;)

I love riding through Wind River Canyon. Lovely area...worth the ride there from Mn..can't imagine what it's like to have it out the door.
