Most of today's phones, except the really cheap ones, are all pretty good. A lot of what makes your phone "a good one" is your carrier. Having been in charge of providing cell service for three different companies, I have found that overall the Verizon Network is the most consistent and has the best coverage. I know that here in the North East, AT&T coverage is spotty at best.

Like others have said, the Razr with Verizon service works well. My 80 year old father uses his all the time without issue.

Except when it comes to what services they offer under Bluetooth. My RAZR had networking, file transfer, comm port, headset, all through Bluetooth. I could use Explorer on my PC to transfer files back and forth. I could use it as a data modem from my laptop.

My current HTC Windows Mobile phone has none of these. It connects a headset via Bluetooth, and it can send (but not receive) a file via Bluetooth. That's it. And half the times I disconnect my headset, the phone locks up.

I want my RAZR back, but I don't make the phone decisions at work!

If Bluetooth is important to you, make sure it does what you need. The folks at your carrier's office probably aren't gonna know anything more than headsets.

on a calgary trip this week, my 4 yr old phone crapped out.i don't need a alot of bells & whistles. i want a rugged phone with good battery time and big numbers for these tired old eyes.

My son the cell phone geek sugested any of the Nextel phones as they have some that are supposed to be pretty rugged. And yes I know it's Sprint/Nextel now. On the Sprint web page you can narrow the list down based on several selections like "basic usage" and "rugged". They have several they call "professional grade."

Oh...and the new CEO claims to be fixing the customer service problems. Or you could PM me if you have any problems with Sprint. (I think I'm gonna regret this) I work for the wireline IP side of Sprint but have had some practice dealing with the customer service reps.
