...was that on the Foothills Parkkway, 15 minutes north of The Dragon at 4:30pm this afternoon?(sunday 8/27)

O5 or 06...couldn't tell the difference...both shades of blue make me gag so I had to look away quickly.

BTW, speaking of The Dragon...what a bunch of inconsiderate, squidly motherfuckers use that road.

Hey, ********...anyone tell you "it's a public road!!!"

I can tolerate people passing me on a double yellow. It ain't a ****-sizing contest. But when you force me to change MY line because you are losing yours, I hope to hell you DO end up hanging parts on the "Tree of Shame". (or contributing parts to some medical school at Research Triangle)

After what I saw today, from Hogs to Motards to Trikes to Wings, ALL driving like *******, I was almost embarrassed to be a biker.

If I was a cop, I'd get a cop buddy to join me and cruise one end of the Dragon to the other, all day...every day...at 25mph.

Will have to say, though...the ******** on 2 wheels at least weren't any BIGGER ******** than the guys in Porsches and Corvettes. And it WAS a ******* hoot watching the FartCan Civic going sideways through the underbrush.

Least I CAN say "I slayed the Dragon." What I can't say is that I enjoyed it. :(

The road is played. There are better roads all over the country.

I've never been there and I'm not sure I wan't to go because of the reasons you've mentioned....I'll certainly not be there on a weekend.

The riding here is quite excellent and right out my front door.

I ride the Deal's quite a bit; most recently this past Thursday. If you picked a weekend for a run, you made a mistake. Weekdays are the best time to run. There is a lot less traffic and most of the riders up there are pretty considerate. Usually, the knobs show up after lunchtime on Friday and stay through Sunday.

That being said, on Thursday 2 bikes bit it on the Cherohala and a guy laid down his R-1 on Deal's.

My wife & I just got back from a trip to the Smokies which included a run down the dragon. I had to do it once but I'm not interested in doing it again, unless I'm the only one on the road. It was a Wednesday mid morning and I thought it was dangerous. There are too many wannabe racers (skilled or not) and not enough areas to let them past. The rest of our trip was Fantastic. The roads were interesting and the people friendly. We especially like the Blue Ridge Parkway.

ok here we go

i work at the gap 6 days a week,

i do 4 round trip passes a day

thats 24 round trip passes a week

thats 96 round trips a month

or 192 one way passes a month

simple ,the gap is a place known to test your turning skills,if your not into that fine go to the brp but stop your winning!!

we avg 2 deaths a yr with like a million bike there a yr so death rate is way way low!

I can see this is going to go south in a hurry. How was the weekend YW? I caught my buddy about 8 miles up Hwy 28. We were committed at that point. There was a Busa (guy & girl) down on the Cherohala on our way back to Telico Plains. They were OK but the bike was totalled. Was good seeing you again. In a non-gay way.

nope scared you will get in me and my wings way is all, have a good nite sir

moto was great seeing you also, please come visit again and when are we gonna do that vid?

Will do the video when I bring the Boss up. Video her from the store to the overlook and me from overlook to the store. We have a trip planned in late September to Wear's Valley. We'll be at the Dragon several times then. I'll be back before that though.

hmmmmmmmmm..............a video, eh? Am I invited?
Only if you want to be pivot... :p

I live a couple of hours from the Dragon, and have ridden it many times, though it is not one of the places I really like to ride. The problem I see over and over again is simple lack of respect for others.

I let faster riders pass, and try to be very careful passing others. However, I can't count the times some ***** has put ME in danger so HE (or SHE) could push the envelope. I really don't care if someone riding over their head has to pay the price - just don't take me with you.

I agree with the suggestion to ride during the week. Weekends can be nuts. The best part of my last trip to the area (two weeks ago) was simply sitting at CROT and enjoying a good Cuban cigar while checking out all the bikes rolling in and out.

Just got back from my week in Sylva, NC, and hadn't been able to get back to this thread 'til now.

YW, since I began this thread, I'll assume your reply is to my original post, so I'll work from there.

So you ride the Gap 192 times a month. What in blue hell does that have to do with the number of inconsiderate ******** that force other riders off their lines or dangerously cross lanes? Or is it that you're one of them and think you're "entitled" to ride like a *******?

If I'm to assume your experience with the Dragon elevates you to a position of expertise on that particular road, then why in hell would you make such a stoooopid statement that you did?

simple ,the gap is a place known to test your turning skills,if your not into that fine go to the brp but stop your winning!!
A public road...especially one with 318 turns in 11 miles, is no place to "test your turning skills". That's what a track is for. And the final portion of the above quote, the "stop your whining" part...maybe you ARE one of the jackasses.

You may be the nicest guy on the planet. You may be the safest driver on the planet. You may "own" the Dragon for all I know....I've seen the video of you driving it...but your reply simply screams "SQUID".

just stated that i ride it alot for work

it seems your are the problem at the gap and a better ride for you would be the skyway?

testing your skills does not mean riding like on a track but riding briskly and working on your skills

seems like your post screams squid about you!!!

again 2 times now with the whining maybe you need to get an h/d??????

You are obviously a dullard who has absolutely no concept of what I wrote about in my original post. And your product bashing "need to get an h/d" comment proves it.

It wasn't me!
Well DUH! You don't drive a gay-*** blue FJR do ya? If you do, you need to update your profile.
