Been looking at the Xena locks. Without a question this is the way I want to go.

Now the question is: which one(s) fit? Obviously a bigger pin is better, but I think the disc holes are only 7mm ID, which precludes a larger pin. Now what about the holes between the carrier and the disc? Will any size fit?

I would like to get the best lock they make (18 mm pin, if it will reach). Please share your experiences.

Pin's too large for the rear, since there's no space between the rotor and carrier. The front works fine in that rotor/carrier gap.

I do have issues though, with the Xena thinking that it should be armed when it's not on a disk, might be a problem with the optical "disk detection" thingy. I frequently have it alarm when it's not on the bike.

I went with the X-15 size. Larger throat and pin seemed more secure...Haven't had any problems self arming w/o a disc....yet

Yea, I definately have a faulty unit. The damn thing arms itself and goes off when it's just sitting around if someone picks it up. <sigh>

XN-15 here, no problems with false alarms and found it cheap on eBay about $65.00 new in the box. Very happy with the size and function with the exception that you get a very short amount of time between the warning and the actual alarm, maybe 5 seconds. You need to be quick with unlocking the thing, especially if you move the bike and your not near the lock with your key out. Otherwise, no complaints. B)

Is it true that the unlock/lock/pin mechanism and the optical-detect-a-disk-and-alarm-when-shaken mechanism are completely seperate? I.e. it's not that the locking/unlocking arms/disarms the unit, but whether a disk (or anything) blocks the little light from being reflected back into the lock.

If you unlock it, you still have to get it off the disk before it disarms.

Do I have that right?

ok, given that, the behaviour I have is that it almost always seems like it thinks there's something blocking the throat.

I think the 14 size and 15 size have the same size pin, only the throat is larger on the 15...

BD's correct about the throat size...I have the 14...XN or XH...the 'all stainless' version..whatever they call it...fits the front great, have not tried it on the rear; has been working perfectly.
