Whitehorse Gear in Conway NH is closing for good later this Spring. Personal decision by owners. While not the lowest cost supplier of MC stuff, they had good stock and knowledgeable staff. Tax free NH location helped too. While I never bought a ton of stuff there, I almost always stopped by for a wander through the warehouse whenever I was in the area. I will miss the place. (Email I received, below.)

It's Been a Great Ride!
Since Judy and I founded Whitehorse in 1989, we have had the privilege of serving hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists, helping them find the best information and equipment to make their riding more comfortable and fun. We've had a wonderful experience, filled with friendship and adventure stretching from those early days before cell phones and the Internet. And while the essentials of two-wheeled travel have really changed very little over the years, enthusiasm for things like dual-sport riding, metric cruisers, and even heated gear has woven its way into the motorcycling mainstream -- and we've greatly enjoyed being a part of it all.
It is with mixed feelings then that we have reached a decision to close our Warehouse Store in Conway later this spring and retire from day-to-day business to spend more time enjoying the sort of life that drew us all together in the first place.
So what does this mean for you? For the next couple of months we'll be offering some outstanding values on our remaining inventory, just in time for you to get well geared up for the riding season ahead. As always, we intend to give you the same great customer service of which we have long been proud. And while the best deals will be found early among our discontinued merchandise, we are willing to special order any items we can for you. Unredeemed gift certificates will, of course, be honored in whatever manner best suits your needs. Give us a call.
Keep an eye out for upcoming marketing emails giving you first crack at the savings. If you happen to be in the area, stop by and give us a chance to help you find what you're looking for, and let us thank you personally for the many years we've shared the road.

Received the same email. Purchased several items from them over the years - always in stock and quick shipping.

Sad to see them go...one of the good ones, but retirement is a nice incentive!

I wonder if they will still be clearing out stuff when we are at NERDS. It will make a nice side trip for the folks heading to Mt. Washington.

They are talking about closing in the next couple of months so I expect they will be long gone by then. Unless, of course, they sell it as an existing (and presumably viable) business. Maybe even make a deal with their staff to keep it running? No hints of that yet.

Bought several items through my riding years from their store. Sad to see them go yet happy for them to be able to move on and enjoy retirement.

Yeah, I'll be sad to see them go too. It has always been a great resource for us up here, to be able to go and try on good quality gear before you buy it. The only other option nearby is Cycle Gear in Woburn, MA and they carry nearly nothing except house brands.

I did give Whitehorse a good amount of business in the past, but that always meant paying a little more in appreciation of their presence, because they were never competing for the lowest price. It helped that it was located in a great motorcycle ride destination right in the heart of the White Mountains.

The current state of internet shopping means you either play in that low price game or you go under.

How about Vanson in Fall River, MA. It's just house brands, but the last few times I was there, they had a fairly large inventory in the floor. Some of it was lower cost from their offshore shops. Some was real USA made from their factory on the premises.

FWIW, I bought from White Horse early on because they had good variety and were often the only internet seller of some items, often at minimally discounted prices.

As competition grew over the years, it probably became harder and harder to keep the doors open.

Note that Motorcycle Superstore has been closing their operations since before Christmas.
