When folks ask why it costs so much to live in California, well a picture is worth a thousand words... dedicated to my riding friends who are frozen in their tracks for the time being until you can get back out there...

Sunday, January 27, 2013 - dead of "winter" - Calaveras Rd.

Was a beautiful day out... about 55 degrees, road to myself, and the air smelled so fresh and clean... B)

Wow, you sure have that camera trained. Those are some incredible photos of some beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing.

You make a very strong case for California winters! It was 55 in Ohio today, but it will be a high in the 20's in a couple of days...and the scenery isn't nearly as nice as your photos.

As I get closer to retirement I think about wintering south. You make a good case my dear Tyler or at least your picture taking skills do!

Thanks Tyler I needed that.

High of 68 today, had a series of thunder showers one right after the other since the wee hours of the morning. Got so dark about 2PM had to turn some lights on.

That's winter in the Midwest, seems even if we get a day with good temps there's always something else that keeps the bike pinned in the garage.

Rant Over.

Great pictures.

Thanks for the post Tyler. Great shots. I needed it. Signed soggy in Seattle.

Great shots Tyler! I got to travel to CA for the first time last June. I spent a week working in Davis but managed a trip to San Fran and the Golden Gate. I hope to get back out there on a bike sometime.

For me there is still so much to explore here on the east coast that if I never make it back I'll have no regrets. Sure I can't ride Dec-Mar but that just gives me time to plan and save up for the months I can ride.

One of my other hobbies is photography. You have an amazing eye for it. Is this a hobby for you as well or is it how you pay the bills?

I love Calavaras and Sierra roads. Great shots and a wonderful time of year to ride the hills around San Jose.

Today was ridable in Pittsburgh with highs in the 60s Tomorrow will be nature's revenge.

Wow, that's some wonderful pictures!

As always great pictures Tyler. This is why I have been wintering in California since I retired in 1994.
Jer, are you coming to the Gathering of the Clans this year? If you make it to Santa Barbara, I hear that Richard is buying the first round...
