...curb?

When I was in high school we learned the Smith Rules of Driving, which includes "Leave yourself an out." I think that's great advice for motorcycle riders.

In one of my "What's the worst thing that could happen" scenarios, I'm being chased by a psychopath in a cage because of some imagined slight during commute hours when we're all a little TENSE!

And so I look at sidewalk curbs and wonder, "Is that an escape path?"

Or would I just crash my bike and get run over?

Will an '05 FJR clear a standard curb? (Please provide video with your response.

GB's was different.

1st, GB is NOT a small guy.

2nd, the curb was made "larger" because the side he approached from was gravel and where he landed was paved. The gravel sided bed had been worn down, adding a full couple of inches to the height of the curb from that side. When his front wheel touched down, it hit with extreme prejudice and pushed the header into the oil pan.

Either way, I wouldn't risk it. I could easily ride off of one, as I have done it before. Riding UP one is a different animal. Taking it at even a little less than 90 degrees is gonna cause a crash. Taking it with enough speed to force the bike to jump it is going to bend one or both wheels.

The other response in the other thread are right on. Figure something else out. The only reason I responded here was to address Bug's post about GB, and all I did was argue semantics. Either way, GB's damage was catastrophic.

Multiple posts are sooooo confusing.

Don't even try to jump curbs with a 600 lb bike Hans.
