I`m looking at buying tires for my 07 FJR online & will need them mounted. Anyone around here that`ll mount them for me (of course i`ll have them off) Don`t want to go back to stealer & pay there price. I`m also looking for the best price for the tires , & of course best tire (milage & grip) I have Metzler z6`s on it now & i know there are better tires out there than these.

Best online prices I've found are at Southwest Moto Tires (https://www.swmototires.com/); their free shipping (if you buy 2 or more) has always put them ahead of everyone else price wise every time I've compared prices. I used to take my wheels to the local Yamaha dealer & have him mount & balance, but his prices got to the point that I bought a cheap Harbor Freight changer and Handy balancer and do my own. I recently put a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2s on my FJR and, so far, they've been great.

A couple of months back, I got a set of Michelin PR2's from www.derbycycles.com for $295 delivered.

Got them fitted and balanced at my local H-D dealership for around $60, and they did a great job, and no marking up of the rims at all.

(No appointment necessary, but first come-first served on a Saturday).

Almost ready for another set, and will be going exactly the same route this time around.

My local Yammi stealer had wanted $475 for the tires, and $50 per wheel to install!!!

So i guess you wore your tires down on vaca ??? Did you bring the whole bike or just the rims ?? & if just the rims did you take off the rotors ??

Thanks Gerard

I figured you 2 guy`s would chime in on the tires. My front tire is making a noise & is getting choppy & the rear is just about dead & had to plug it at work to get the bike home.

Laugerman's HD has consistant;y been the cheapest place to have tires replaced; however, you are not allowed to bring metric bikes into the shop (no tools for them-n-all). So, we jacked the bikes up, removed the wheels as outlined in the procedure here, and brought just the wheels. I made a front end lift out of 1/2" steel pipes as recommended here, and lifted the bike end as prescribed here. I think it cost me $50 and when not in use, just folds flat and hangs on the wall in the garage.

Hope this helps

Rick

I use JR's on 322 in Ephrata. I think it was $30 bucks the last time. Its not a high-tech place. If you call ahead you can usually arrange to have them pull the wheels, $45. Open til 9:00 too.

I have had B&B do them a few times when I needed a tire for a weekend ride or something. They will mount a tire in the evenings while you wait. They aren't ridiculous on the prices. I don't think they'll mount a tire bought elsewhere.

No need to remove the rotors.

I ran a pair of PR2 tires and wasn't crazy about them. Going back to the original Pilot Road.

I had pretty good luck with Southwest Moto Tires, I had them mounted by a BMW Kawi Dealer,Trans Am Cycles in Lititz. I Took the wheels and tires up on a Friday evening, after work, and they were done by noon next day, cost me around $50. No complaints. I'll use them again. HTH

I`m suprised , that they would do that. When i went there to buy the 05 Concours i used to own , they thought they were the only bike store on the planet & wouldn`t deal. (so i bought it at Don`s Kawasaki , nice people but bike turned out to be a lemon) Well i`m going to order the tires tonite (card in hand so best deal wins.

Go out back and deal with the guy at the service desk, I don't recall his name, not a real pleasant fellow, but, maybe he was having a sh*tty day. He took care of me. I stayed away from the sales force and parts dept, went right to him.
