Would a Ohlins 46PRXLS work on an '05 FJR w/ ABS?

I have a friend who has decided to go track-day-only in WERA 600cc series. Just before making this move, he acquired an Ohlins 46PRXLS on an ebay auction which he was planning on putting on his R1. Now that plans have changed, he has this Ohlins just sitting in his garage. It has piggy back resovior and remote hydraulic preload adjustment.

He's in a bit of a financial pinch at the moment and I'm considering "helping him out" by taking this off his hands. I know I will have to at least send it back out to get resprung and worked to match my needs on the FJR. But curious if this model would even work to begin with.

If it will work, I'm also open to suggestions on where to send it to get reworked.

Edited -- fat figured 48prxls ... should be 46prxls.

Does he want to sell it? Is it for an '04-'05 R1? Don't beleive it will fit the FJR though.

The shock type for the '05 FJR is 46PRCS. The Part Number is YA342. Note the difference in these two numbers as the shock type for two given bikes can be the same, but the part number is different.

The other thing to consider is that the shock should be spring and valved for your weight and riding style. In the case of the FJR1300, this requires a special order. SportbikeEffects price on the Ohlins to forum members is $895.50.

@Bike Effects

You've spiked my interest again. Exactly what comes with the Ohlins shock for the price you have listed? Sprung to my riding style, remote adjustment, etc.. Educate us. Thanks....

I realize I would have to get the 46prxls reworked for the FJR. After looking at the 46prcs and the 46prxls, the only difference I see is the feature set (single compression first double compression). How does the part numbers play into Ohlins shocks. Is there a "hidden" truth that I am missing?

If it won't work for me, I think he is going to give his racing friends have first dibs at it. If he still doesn't have a taker, I'll post here for the offerings. But, I can't imagine it will sit around for long.

All of the above. Spring for you and your gear. It has a Hydraulic remote preload adjuster so if you want to go 2 up or add gear, you can raise the back easily. It mounts where the stock preload adjuster was, but you remove the plate that is in there now.

Also in the package...increased ground clearance and extra smiles. :D :D
