I need more traction, grip, AND tire life. I've heard Marthons give good life...and wonder if this will spoon on and clear.

Metzler, Marathon - 300/35VR-18 for $266.99 at Motorcycle Superstore...unless somebody knows a cheaper place.

Maybe I should get the 280's just to be sure.

Anybody have experience with this tire on the FJR? If you don't, please don't post. I don't want no off-topic stuff here or suggestion of other tires. Keep this thread clean!

I'm thinking 60 psi to get even more miles and will scuff them down with steel wool to take off the chicken straps.

And I'm gonna pair up with this Avon for some good rain traction. Those Brits know rain tires...LOL. Skinny tires do better in the front anyways.

Iron Butt Rally here I come! ;)

Edit: Hey, who moved this thread from FJR Specific Discussion? People have the right to know about this important tire combination! This ain't NEPTR. Thx. / Zebco

Can you get that Marathon in white wall? Or you planning to paint the sidewalls white yourself? What kind of paint you gonna use?

I see you went off your meds today, Iggy. Well, reality is highly over-rated anyway in my opinion... :clown2:

Ran across those meats when I was trying to decide what tire I'm going to run for the IBR and drop ship to one of my more Eastern friends this year...and thought I'd have a little fun. ;)

With about 80 days to go...you'll be seeing myself, Skooterg, and other IBR hopefuls start to get a bit more twitterpated preparing. Just found a great sunrise/sunset calculator.

You might want to just have OCfjr (Eric V.) hook you up with a set of Goodyear steel-belted radials. They corner for ****, but are guaranteed to last you the entire IBR and then some...!

Regarding your sunrise/sunset calculator, a little Garmin eTrex is your friend...

Is that so you can plan those romantic walks on the beach?
Milk.....nose.........spray on the monitor. Snerk! :)

...and the funnier thing is we're roomies during the rally. The Jetta boys are trying to save some money this year.

Owned three eTrex over my life. One died, sold one, and gave one away to Dad. Free software on the laptop is easier since I'll be using it extensively anyway.

Dammit..!! Did you have to do that.?? Free software means I now have to install it (yep, it's a sickness...). Yet another little gadget sitting in my task tray. Just hope it plays nice with Weatherbug (because nothing else does....) :D

And Weatherbug is considered malware by many organizations. I wouldn't install that turgid piece of sneaky crap on my worst enemy's computer.

put the wide one on the front for stickier turns and more contact patch when the bars are turned

put the skinnier one in the back for less friction holding her back

and edit: what's good for the goose...

No wonder I have so much trouble mounting tires on a FJR, all this time I have been trying to mount a 17 inch tire. :angry2:
I thought it was +/- 1"....like you can plus or minus 100mm on the width. I really need the low profile 35 because I don't want the sidewall too flex two much. The usual 55 is just to much hoop 2 roll with in Pasco. ;)
