The GT retains all the intoxicating vavoom (173 hp) of the 1290 Super Duke R while adding a host of features designed to make it tolerable for the long haul.

Don't call it a sport-tourer, though. You won't find that phrase anywhere in KTM's press materials and it's clear the Austrian company wants to avoid a certain negative image often associated with the genre.
Sport bike with bags. If I didn't regularly carry a passenger I could be interested.

Plus - much like HK, they already hate you for being a lover of Sport Touring ?!?!?

Without the bags mind you.

BUT . . . it's got self-cancelling turn signals.

We won't lose any members but I'm sure some will suffer an identity crisis...

Color me tempted if I didn't have two three in the stable already. Big question - what would I use it for and how can I justify the purchase!

Maybe the BMW guys are ready to leave the confines of the fatherland and step across the border. I'm happy with my "Ultimate Sports Tourer".

Dang, where do I sign up? My buddy had the regular 1290 and proclaimed it the best motorcycle ever made. Adding bags makes it a little better in my eyes, but not his.

My 990 supermoto t has sport bike bags, rack, 5 gal tank, hand guards and a windshield and was 8 grand less. No way this ktm can replace the FJR as a LD bike . However I'm sure it's a blast to ride.

"Will we lose any members to one of these?" No, but maybe to one of these! JSNS, Shelby GT350! https://www.caranddriver.com/ford/mustang-shelby-gt350

When you get one, Don. Just will it to me when you, you know. Then we'll both die happy.

Funny , I was between the FJR and a Kawi Versy. The Kawi was quite a reach getting on and off ( I'm 6-1 ) versus the FJr and I ride with a passanger quite alot . My Passenger (5-8) nearly had to jump to get on the high tail section of the Kawi and scuffing the bags would be a daily thing. Coming off a bmw Rt I felt the FJR was the best for my type of riding. I don't see Adventure bikes as a good two-up option for me nor do I see alot of bmw GS riders with a passenger either. We are really enjoying the FJR and for the money it is a great bike.

Interesting but the $22k+ price dissuades. Not to mention nearest dealer 120 miles away. To adjust idle: take it to your dealer. To clear a code: take it to your dealer...

If it doesn't have the triple tuning forks, it does not catch my eye. (Except maybe petey's hot rod roller skate.)
