I can assure you that it was NEVER considered "hip" by anyone other than his agent. He was an out-of-work hack doing movies like Tarantula (when he worked at all). He had told all his fans from Trek to shove it up their arses and so even that option wasn't available for 20+ years (until people forgot enough to buy tickets to ST:TMP). TJ Hooker wasn't even a gleam in it's developers' eyes when he did his "musical" album.And sadly enough, that was probably considered very "hip" back in the day.... uke:
