Ok I know this is stupid, and I'm going to get "Well we discussed this many times".

But I can't for the life of me get the search to work properly.

But that's not what this question is about:

I bought a used 05, the previous owner wrecked it.

The front fairing and windshield were replaced.

Now when I hit a bump or rough road I hear a loud thump/rattle from

the windsheild supports.

I know it's a moveable windshield bla bla bla.

But I have no point of referrance.

Is this normal or is it something I should have checked out?

Then what is you tried to search on? You might try something like, "I tried searching on this that site:fjrforum.com at Google and didn't find what I was hoping. What should I search on or if it hasn't been said before does anybody have an idea?"

As it is...it doesn't sound normal. As you say...it's been wrecked. Maybe it wasn't fixed properly and the nose needs to come off to see what's bumping. It takes about 2 hours to take the nose off the first time in my experience and would be well worth it.

Take the front cowling off and check everything. Make sure nothing is loose and that evrything is were it belongs. If you need help get some.

While I've been searching for days myself w/o posting a question because of the "search" onslaughts, I just read through EVERY single result from those two searches you provided, many of which I already came across during my searches. A lot of times searching does not always provide an answer.

I'm not even going to post my windshield concerns. Some search results start to touch on the issue but never finish up with definite answers.

While mine doesn't rattle or thump, because I have an oversized windshield with a Vario deflector on it....it does move around quite a bit more than the smaller windshields I've had in the past.

However, it does operate smoothly and doesn't "thump" or "rattle".

Thanks Guys,

Now I know something is screwed up because today I removed the V-Stream windshield and put the factory windshield back on.

When I raise the windshield and turn off the engine the windshield does not return to it's down position automatically.

So here we go, another learning experience.

That is a common change owners make. It removes the need to readjust the screen every time you stop. Many people have to hunt that wire to disconnect. One less change for you!! I am sure that question will stir some love. Just remember some thick skin!! -Tate ;)

Mike... Don't give up on your searching for a solution. Stay determined! Your frickin' avatar makes me laugh for some reason. Good luck with the issue. Remember to post your solution once you find it. +1 on the "thick skin" comment.
