I just went to put some spacers under my shield so it would be tipped back a little but it seems that they have changed the design of the bracket.

Has anyone figured out how to tip the screen back on an 08/09????

R

Richard, I can tip back Bushmill's, Jameson, Red Breast, Guinness, Murphy's and Smithwicks; can't help with screen though.

PM El Pendejo-SkooterG: He does nothing but jack off on the Internet all day and knows everything under the freaking sun!!

I've tipped mine back and it is perfect. With the shield down I get smooth air flow for when it is hot, when it's up nice weather protection and really quiet. I use a Cal-sci extra-large.

I fabricated some brackets out of thin plate and had to file the heads off of some bolts and add a little shim. It tips the bottom out about a 1/2". Way, way better than stock. I'll have to get some pics for you when I get a chance.

I'm sure if you used a blow torch, you could tip your shield back a bit. Want to borrow my Oxy/Accetaline set?

j/k bud, just put the spacers between the mount and the shield. You'll probably need longer nylon screws. :drinks:

Ray, you cant do that on an 08 as they have changed the bracket that holds the screen....

So you're saying that part 7, 32, and 33 arn't the same as those on the '07? There can't be that much difference between em, if there is then ignore me as usual :p

You should be able to pull the 2 screws #33 out and put spacers between #7 and #32 to achieve the angle you want. Or you could pull the 7 #2 and put the spacers between #3 and your shield on the bottom side.

'07 fiche for REFERENCE

As promised. Please excuse dirt. Garden hose still frozen.

I just changed my screen from the short stock. to touring. One problem, what is up with the nylon screws? This is my first FJR, but I snappewd two. Is this a safety thing? I am considering replacing them with metal.

Just imagine...you run into something. The stock screws on your windshield snap, allowing you to fly gracefully through the air as you casually brush your stock-attached windshield aside.

Or,

....you rip your "man-things" off because your metal-screw-attached windshield cuisinarts your privates.

Jes' sayin'. :dribble:

Ray HERE is the Microfiche for your 07 and HERE is the same link for the 08 take a close look you will see the difference.

And STR8 that is kinda what i was thinking I had to do, as far as the plastic screws go I changed mine to stainless the day i got it home.

Nice imagery, but what really happens is the screen breaks just as easily as the nylon screws do. The nylon screws are a non standard size, (at least not stocked any place), and stupidly costly from the dealer for what they are. After my go down I replaced them with steel. Just didn't feel like ordering them from the dealer when I could just buy them cheaper at the hardware store in steel.

Oh Crap!

Someone start a "Windshield Darkside" thread, quick!
HEY! The get off happened waaaay before I darksided the Feej. 'course, I was riding on snow for about a hundred miles before that. Think that could have contributed to the go down?

You're links are broken Richard. I would be interested in seeing the '08 fiche. I did see some pics earlier for the '08 and yes, I see there is a difference between the gen 2 and the gen 2

Discussed here and many other places before.

This thread is about adjustment possibilities.
