this is the AWR plug. Which is the switched hot wire? top or bottom. Being red green color blind doesn't make this easy.

This is for an '05, to power the relay.

What...you don't have a 12 volt test light in your tool chest?

Simply arc it to ground. The one that sparks is was hot. Now you can also discover the fuse and its location. ;)

No test light. I won't blow a fuse, unique suggestion however.

Thanks

the top one is all red with a black stripe...I believe it's that one (red is positive or hot)

the bottom wire is all black with a red stripe...I believe it's ground (black is negative or ground)

I tried putting my voltmeter probe to the computer screen picture, but a fuse must be blown cause no effect on my meter...

If you had a 12v light bulb you could "jury rig" a tester by attaching a ground wire with electrical tape and touching the "hot" lead to one of the contacts.

Good luck.

Thank you Patriot. I'll tap that in the morning. Been a long day. Fun taking the thing apart :yahoo:

thank's Mike. I had an old test light I used to use on VW's. Wondering why it didn't work awhile ago I opened it up and discovered it had no bulb. I don't have one so I'll try patriots usggestion in the AM.

you could pull a tail light bulb

just pop off the pillion seat and they are right there

unscrew the cam like plastic holder and then unbayonet the bulb

Yes I could. But I am keeping all the connections up front under the dash. I do have to run the wire for my Gerbing heated vest back under the tank. I'll need to spice to make it long enough to reach. I will be using the insulated wire loom to keep it from getting to hot. At this point I'm just going to be powering up the heated grips (PO owner had them hooked to the left horn wire. He disabled the horn in that process), 12V outlet, and the vest.

Thanks for the help.

Got it all done and back together. Everything works! No extra parts! Got to go get a test light and volt meter someday.

Thank you all for the help.
