Yowsa! Got the standard promotional email from BikeBandit.com today. If you are an A.M.A. member you get 15% off and there are some great deals!

For example:

Bridgstone Battleaxe 023 'GT' spec front and rear: $206.52 shipped!!! Excellent deal!

Michelin Pilot Road 2 non-B spec front and rear: $235.23 shipped!!! I think this is currently a pretty good deal.

Conti Motion front and rear: $167.97 shipped. Not so great a deal.

I am thinking of picking up a set of the Bridgestone 023 GT spec tires to have on inventory. For $206 that is a bargain!

If you have Bandit Bucks or a gift card, even better!

Clicky!

I just paid 291 for metzeler z8's and got a free $120 pair of Smith sunglasses from metzeler.

(Does anybody like the battleaxes???, personally they'd have to pay me to put those back on my bike)

The tires that come OEM on the FJR are the 021s and they SUCK. The 023s 'GT' spec are a fairly popular tire around here. A little searching will provide a plethora of favorable reviews on them.

Didn't get the memo, skoot....I just renewed, though. Do we just include our AMA # for the discount at checkout. Is it going on today (Fri) or just Sat/Sun? Gotz ta git me sum PR2's!

Look for the button for entering 'organization discount' or something like that. According to the email I got it's all weekend - "Today through Monday".

CA adds sales tax. No AMA membership here, so no 20% discount either.

PR2 was coming out to >$280.

I ordered the B spec ($35 more, before discount). Shipped total was $284.58

This was with ground shipping since I'm in no hurry.

My guess is non-B spec rear would put the shipped total for a set around $250-$255

I ordered PR 3s, not 2s.

And I just ran the numbers on non B spec and got $259.73 for a set of PR 3s

Thanks for the heads up Greg!!

That was pretty fortuitous. I was all queued up to order the 023GTs from MSS yesterday (for ~$255!) but luckily I procrastinated.

I just ordered a pair here for $207 shipped! (Applied the AMA discount and a couple of bandit bucks I had on file) :yahoo:

I'm not in dire (tire?) straights right now, but looking at the PR2s on there now it won't be long. And this time the planets have aligned such that it seems the front and rear will be shot at the same time!

I too have read all great reviews on the 023GTs on our FJRs (unlike any other 'stones) and look forward to trying them out.

I got my 023's back in November from Bike Bandit, since then, I have put about 4000 miles on them, including riding in torrential rain the first two days they were on the bike! The feel great, have very predictable handling, and seem to have good wear characteristics. I have noticed that the rear tire seems to be a triple compound tire, as there is a softer band just off center (sorry, don't have pics) on each side.

I have a set of 023's on now and I like them. Mileage looks like it will be the same as the Road Pilot 2's that I had been running but these tires provide a MUCH smoother ride and you don't have to horse the front end around in turns. And they cost significantly less.

Unless the mileage turns out to be significantly less than the Michelins, I won't go back to the hard side-walled Road Pilots.

Try them.

Just bought a set of the 023 GT specs. With my Bandit Bucks and $10 gift card AMA had sent me at some point many moons ago, total came to $194.14. :yahoo:

That's a screaming deal!

Still having good success with the 023GTs. At 6000 miles now with uniform wear and no cupping on the front at all. This set looks to be good for 9000 miles at the current rate of wear. We'll see how they do at the end of life...

My current 023GT Front is wearing pretty well as well. There is a pattern in the tread in the center of the tire which is worn down more than the areas around it...it's kinda weird, but I don't feel anything at all while in corners, etc. After today's ride, I currently have 8400 miles on it.

If anyone wants to see it and is currently at NAFO, it's on an 07 (Black Cherry) parked out front. The other 07 parked next to it also has a 023GT front with around 2000 miles for comparison. For additional identifiers, both bikes have three heatroller knobs on the left dash area.

EDIT: and I also just ordered two full sets to have in reserve. Thanks!
