When I placed my order for the new AE last November I didn't know I was buying such a rare commodity.

Check this out:

This should get you to the FJR-AE being auctioned on Ebay. The guy is selling the right to buy his AE from his dealer (at full list + taxes).

The bid is up to $6300  and it has 3 days left.

Don't get me wrong, but if someone wants to give me that kind of dough for the right to buy my bike, sign me up :) I would be perfectly happy with tracking down an "A" model on a dealer floor and even pay full list price.

I'll be willing to put some of my hard earned green stamps down to bet that will be a deal that goes sour. The ad is confusing as hell because no one bids for the "right" to buy something like that. I'd bet that if we emailed any of the bidders and told them they were bidding on a "right to purchase", they tell you that you've lost your mind. 10 to 1 says they think there buying a bike!!

At the end of that auction, temper will be as hot as a 03-05 model :D

I remember when Honda came out with their NSX, waiting list and $15000 to get someones spot on it. Same with the Viper when it first came out, limited productions. But this bike will be able to be found on the showroom floor, not in the quanities of the standard but will still be able to be bought. Plus I believe that after some purchase the AE, they might not quite like the set up and there will be some used ones with very low milage. No way would I buy a spot for that much to purchase a bike unless it was vintage or one of a kind.

He's even added a new disclaimer but some people can't read...

Of course you don't need to read in order to click away

"On Jun-15-06 at 04:17:53 PDT, seller added the following information:

Guy's, this is for the RIGHT to buy the FRJ1300AE, NOT for the FJR itself. I put a $500 non-refundable deposit down on the bike and I am just trying to get my deposit back. For those of you who thought you were buying the bike, please retract you bid! I don't want any confusion on this."

It looks like it was a mis-communication problem. :glare: All the bids have been retracted and now there are no bids for the right to buy the AE. Darn, here I was ready to auction my "soon to arrive" AE to the highest crazy bidder. :D

Someone must have sent the bidders an e-mail explaining the fine print :)

I wonder....

Who would have done that

All bids are retracted now.
