My latch button on my 05 glove box seems to be broken. The electrical pin that goes up/down still works fine. I pulled the plastic button off and it appears to have a broken piece where it would allow for the button to lock/unlock.

I've looked online at the OEM parts blow up and I don't see where I can purchase just the new plastic button. All I can see is that Yamaha sells the entire glove box "Sub-Assembly" as one unit.

Anybody have a whole glove box or even just the intact button???

Hmmm. I don't think it's 74. And 72 could possibly be it I guess, doesn't quite look right to me. Let me look at the bike when I get home to tonight to see if that is indeed the piece I'm looking for.

Thanks for the info!
And i think the 72 is what you need...the 72 i think it is the press button...

Nope. Both 72 and 74 are part of the solenoid mechanism. When it comes to the actual button you are screwed - you have to replace the entire glove box assembly. Many use velcro or magnets to latch the glove box door. I bought a new one when mine went out. If you do some searching there are previous threads on this.

Ok that was my fear. So this is apparently a common issue? I've just not seen or read any threads on this yet. The new sub-assembly is like $111.00 - plus shipping. Kind of wished Yamaha didn't use a "plastic" functional piece for the button mechanism. (sigh)

I might just use magnets. Now I need to search and find ones that will work I guess.

The 99 cent micro switch in the driver side map light of my Honda pilot broke. They don't sell a replacement 99 cent micro switch through Honda to fix it. You have to buy the whole assembly for... cough, hack, choke...$360.00 !!! for a stupid plastic switch!! After I finally stopped laughing at the parts guy, I told him I would go to my local electrical supply store and buy one for a couple bucks and retrofit it.
