Took the FJR out for a ride last night after work, weather in the low 80,s calm winds, in short, perfect riding weather. After about an hour, stopped in to a local bar in a small town with decent food and got a beer, 1 beer, not more, and ordered a sandwich. Lots of bikes at this place, about 20 HD's or so and 1 goldwing. Struck up a converstion with some of the locals and as it turns out, all were there on their HD's. I am thinking ok, sounds cool. Talking about riding and the subject comes up about how many miles people ride per year. The 3 people I am talking to, say they ride to a couple of different bars on a semi regular weekly basis and maybe put 30 miles per week on their rides. When I told them I bought my bike in January this year, and had about 1100 miles on the odo, they cold not believe how much I ride. I never considered myself all that much of a high miles rider. A little more conversation revealed that these guys all paid over 20K for their rides. One guy was proud of the fact that he had a 97 springer softail custom with only 18K on the odo.
I know that their are people on this forum that have or have had HD's. Is this lack of wanting to ride an HD thing or what? Why would you spend so much on a bike and not want to ride? Just askin, seems weird to me.
