I'm meeting OhioFJR1300 & his wife/hunnee Pat on Labor Day weekend for some riding and some camping. We have reservations at Seneca Shadows Campground... right near the rock & Elkins, WV.

We were wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting & riding with us. I expect the bulk of our riding will be on Sunday... since we ride in on Saturday & leave for home on Monday.

If anyone is interested in joining us, please let us know,

Heidi

Yeah Keith, we'd love to have you with us, too. I am hoping for no rain as opposed to when we were at that campground last. That was horrible!

Ugh. Too many cookouts to go to. Leaved no timefor riding :angry2: I would love to join but can't this time.

it better not rain. Weather report looks like we may get wet.
I'll hope that ya'll have no rain or less than we did last time.

Don't know if I'll be free Sunday but if I can I'll PM you or Heidi,

and mabe I can show you some local roads.

If not ride safe and have a good time.

Chuck

Heidi, I'd like to but will have to check with Lorie. She's just coming back today from visiting our daughter in NYC today and I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend. Will get back to you.

I'd love to join, if it didn't take me a day and a half to get there. Sounds like fun though.

I haven't looked at the weather today, yet but it has looked like the remnants of that tropical storm are moving through. Actually, it's coming through right now according to the news this morning, & will probably be gone by the time that we go to play. A little rain is ok in my book. A lot... well, that would make me not want to go at all.

Chuck, did we put up with hell rain, or what?

Anyway, I've not planned any route, yet. I am thinking that Rte 33 & 250 should be stuffed in there... & Smokehole Rd. Rick wants to check out Smokehole.

I was considering a ride to Spruce Knob as well, providing if I can find out if it's a gravel road. Chuck, do you know? Jim says that it was... but I could swear that a friend told me about a year ago it was paved going up.

Anyway, if you cannot make it, please PM me some local roads, if you'd be kind enough.

For anyone that might like to join in... I am supposing that we would be on the road by... or b4 9:00 am Sunday morning.

Chuck and Jim, if you're going to PM me, if possible, please do by Friday afternoon. I won't see any posts past 5:00 on Friday. Hope to see you guyz, Heidi

PM sent

Hope this helps, I can't tell you about Spruce Knob the last time I was up there

it was gravel. BUT that was 21 years ago!

Chuck

Heidi and Rick,

Man would I love to go camping this weekend but I have plans with my girls. Enjoy and hope you all stay dry!

P.S. Rick - say hello to your lovely wife, I really enjoyed visiting with you and her on the KY ride in April!

Slow Ride - Yep Spruce Knob is still gravel the last 2 mile or so but the road up the that point is awesome! Hey there is a great little Mom & Pop restaurant at the intersection up to Spruce Knob, it was yummy!

If ya'll encounter some gravel roads, be sure to get lots of pics of Heidi on the gravel roads. I have a score to settle and will pay a handsome reward for said photos.

I'll pay money to see that! Oh I wish I had pulled out my camera on our way to KY, Daddies Bike took us down into a cool mine road and when the gravel started to get bigger that golf balls, Heidi turned around!

Yeah, whatever! I've heard similar stories in the past. I didn't get jack for those pics of my bike on a trailer. ;)

Andddd... you forgot to mention the part about being GLAD that I did turn around. Damn right I turned around. That large gravel & those large coal trucks driving through it where not enticing to me.

Jay failed to mention... I already rode 2-3 miles down that gravel road b4 turning around. No he didn't... but I did... and rode down 2 more gravel roads that weekend because of Daddysbike's Zumo.

So... like... I hear that road to Spruce Knob is gravel... & we won't be going. Well, not if I have anything to say about it. :blush2:

Heidi - I'm going to pass on the Sat night camping. In my former career I slept in the rain, snow, cold, heat, enough that it's lost its luster! Depending on the weather (which doesn't look great), I may be happy to get up early and meet you Sunday AM.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and your plans for Sunday AM. If you don't mind, PM me your cell phone so I can let you know for sure whether I'm coming or not. I'll send you mine.
