After a lettle research it seems the YES warranty can only be bought within the 12 month after purchasing the bike.

I was wondering if when I buy an '05 FJR with 2,300 miles on it, could I add a YES warranty to it?

Get the VIN and ask a Yammie dealer.

I would think most 05s have been in service more than 12 months though.

You can only buy the yes warrant while the bike is still covered under factory warranty. There are other warranty programs available.

rockmurf,

Thank you.

I am will be picking up a used 05 FJR next Friday with only 2,350 miles on her, and I will be the second owner. I do not think it is still within the 12 month purchase period. What other 'Warranty' programs are there? Could you 'link' them or provide other contact info for me?

Thanks again

Try googling motorcycle aftermarket warranties and also check with the mc dealers around where you live. Chances are good they are tied into one or two but be careful because these places have been known to go belly up and leave you out in the cold.

It would be an aftermarket warranty, which may or may not be honored by the shop you take it to for service. You would then be paying out of pocket, then submitting the claim to the warranty company, who may or may not pay you. If they do pay you, there will be items they will not cover fully, consider "maintenance" items, or otherwise pick apart. They may or may not be in business throughout the full term of the warranty purchased. It will cost a small fortune, and indeed may or may not ever be used. You would be much better off taking $1000 (about what an aftermarket "Service Plan" will cost for a used bike well out of factory warranty, invest it, and keep as a hedge against any possible high buck problems.
