Yamaha oil filter part number change

So I just ordered a batch of new oil filters from my favorite online Yamaha OEM parts store. I didn't really pay any attention to the part number during the ordering process. Two days later and 4 new filters show up at the door and they are different than before. The new filters are shorter, where the original filters where longer. Here are the parts numbers in question:

• Old part number 5JW-13440-00-00 (Longer - ~3.4")
• New Part Number 5GH-13440-20-00 (Shorter - ~2.6")

In digging around online, some suppliers still list the old number for the 09 FJR while some list the new number.

Any insight to the change? Is the new number what the 13 model ships with and they are just aligning the parts across the model year? I just question the filtration of the shorter unit.

If the shorter filter is truly the right filter and compatible with the 09 FJR, I'm happy because it is the same filter that my 09 R6 track bike uses.
