I just got my new 06A last week, and am interested in seeing what you paid for the 48 month Yamaha YES (if you bought it).

1. What price did you pay (48-month only)

2. Where did you buy it (dealer and location)

3. Can one buy it after the fact, say within x amount of time after taking delivery, and from a different dealer than one purchased the bike from?

4. A or AE?

Thanks for the help...

$389 at D&H - you can buy it anytime during the basic warranty period. Doesn't matter what dealer you buy it from.

I printed off information from threads about D&H and the dealership in Indiana and asked my selling dealer whether he would match it. It took a couple of weeks and a couple of conversations, but he sold me a 4-yr. plan for $389. Try it with your dealer. Search the forum for the thread about YES and copy off a couple of the posts and go for it.

1. $599

2. L.A. Yamaha (Marina Del Rey, CA)

3. Bought it the same time when I picked up my bike.

4. AE

I bought the bike, with 4-yr extended warranty, for $15,598 OTD. I do not think I could have done any better. I saved more on the bike than others may have saved on Y.E.S.

818Guy, I think you did extremely good on that deal! Congrats! Perhaps we can take a ride sometime. You are just not that far from me.

4. A or AE? Er, uhm, that'd be my '05 A model
Give your dealer one chance to come close...The YES is from Yamaha, all dealers pay the same amount...the rest is markup and profit...or bloodletting (choose your own definition). D&H are great people to deal with, even on the phone.

You need to buy the YES before your 12 month warranty expires....the only other issue would be if you are a Flordia resident, but you're in SoCal (I think), so its time to go shopping for YES.

I purchased the 48 month Y.E.S. warranty for $369.00 from North End Cycle in Elkhart IND. I think it is an excellent deal for anyone but believe it is most important for everyone who purchased the AE. We have yet to see how reliable the auto clutch is and how well this system holds up under long term use. I have over 3500 miles on mine and have enjoyed the auto clutch feature, except from a dead stop and parking lot speeds, but it seems the auto clutch slips much more than the standard clutch system and it may become a warranty issue down the road so the extended warranty seems like a very good thing, especially for this bike. Called D&H for a quote ... $345.

Went to a local Yamaha dealer and told them what I'd pay and they matched the quote. They'll usually match a lower quote in hopes of getting the warranty service if and when it's necessary.

There usual price was $550.

I got my 06 1300A for $12,299.00 at Abernathy's in Union City, TN. As I expected, they pushed the YES warranty pretty hard. I told them I could get it from D & H for about $389.00 and that i would buy it from them if they could match that price. The salesman looked at me like I grew another head. I told him to write up the sale for the bike only...thank you very much. I did buy 6 crush washers from him though. Oh yeah, he told me the YES warranty was usually $699 for the 4 year but that they sold them w/ a new bike purchase for $599.

Why can't a Florida resident buy the YES warranty from out of state?
the only thing keeping them from falling into the gulf is because they suck! :yahoo:

something to do with your elected officials defining an extended factory warranty as an "insurance policy" and after getting blow jobs from the state insurance companies they made it where you have to buy same from only in-state companies.

1st off, I'm not an insurance expert (although I am a licensed insurance claims adjuster and Dallas Cowboy fan). I called the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation here, Office of the Commissioner: 850-413-3140 and spoke with a very informative person who outlined me the following information.

* Yamaha Corporation is not listed as licensed in the state of FL to sell their warranty, specifically. Yamaha probably is represented in layers of under-written companies. I would be sure Yamaha has their ducks in a row pertaining to insurance. As we were talking, he looked up other companies like GM, Ford, etc. and they were all listed but not specifically the Yamaha Corp.

* There is no law in the state of Florida stopping me from purchasing the YES warranty from any other state and bringing the product back into the state via the internet, phone call, etc. He compared this to an online purchase of an out-of-state life insurance policy. Say you bought this policy out-of-state on the internet and they were not licensed in the state of FL to sell insurance. Then, later on, they went belly-up and you wanted some kind of recourse action. You would not get help from the State of Florida. In this case, I buy the YES warranty from whoever I want, end up on Yamaha's system as having it and get my service done wherever I take it in. Unless Yamaha goes bankrupt, I'm in good shape.

* It would be against the law for a company outside of Florida to solicit my business unless they were licensed in this state to sell insurance/service warranty.
