Seeing too many threads on this forum about CC cockups. The Audiovox unit is just difficult enough to install for many people to make a mess of it, spending lots of time trying to get the thing to work properly.

Ah yes, maybe so, but the pleasure is well worth the pain.

So much in fact, if I find another sweet deal like I did here on the CC, I'm pretty sure I'd go through it again on my 03 Concours.

Installing the ccs100 Is not all that hard (after you've done one) & the rewards are well worth it. I have had mine on for 3 years & has worked great. If I can install one its got to be easy :dribble: .

While I agree that a cruise control is a highly desirable option for most, and that the AVCC is a major PITA to install, I don't think Yammie NEEDS to offer it as an option as most of the competition doesn't either. No for Honda, Kawasaki, or any other brand except BMW. And with them, you pay for it.

But we can dream.

Have to say I never have had the urge for cruise control on a bike

Throttle lock for sure but cruise

Once you've had an electronic cruise on a bike, it's very hard to go without. It makes long trips so much more pleasant.

I wouldn't ever have been able to figure out the AVCC if I'd been the first to try it but the step-by-step instructions available now make the install very easy.

Installing the AVCC could not have been easier. I just had Smitty do it.

https://www.spoiledbiker.com/fjrmanual.html you can always try this option it is a plug and play all connectors match up with factory plugs. Probably cost as much as it would if it was factory option.

I have this one and it will take every bit of 5 hours + to install but very high quality and works great.

I would love to not NEED one but its either this or be in agony and would not be able to ride more than a hour at most. If my FJR didn't vibrate so bad maybe I wouldn't need a cruise control. I tried throttle locks..to dangerious for me since I need to use it so often and 90% of the time we ride in the mountains.

And yes I have tried everything possible to solve the buzzz.....nothing helps.

Assuming Yamaha FINALLY sees the writing on the wall and offers cruise as an option on future models, and assuming they outsource the actual hardware, say, to McCruise, and the price of the McCruise, plus markup, adds $800 to the price, how many would opt for the $800 option, or save the money on initial purchase and install their own $100 Audiovox?

Makes my $15 VistaCruise look REAL good. :)

If AV can make and sell them at a profit for $100 retail, than Yamaha can make and sell them at a profit for WAY less than $800. I'd have spent $400 on a Yamaha factory CC in an NYM because it'd then be under warranty and subject to Y.E.S.

The MC has features that make it much nicer to use. The CCS is a compromise to be sure. I don't doubt that a factory unit would/should fall somewhere between. I'm thinking $500 would have one on just about every bike. Ok, make it $495.99 ;)

Radman,

Can you compare the MC to the AV (just so I know what I'm missing)?

+1 :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Maybe a cc isn't for everyone, but for me it's the number one farkle on my bike.

I'd pay more for an FJR with an optional factory cc.

I would like to see it as a dealer add on or from the factory for those willing to wait. I consider it a must have option and my Gen III will have it on way or the other.
