The new Stratoliners etc certainly are a fresh, innovative (given the 30s styling touches from the Art Deco school...) design, but.......... They certainly are not ungainly hardlee clones unlike many Japanes cruisers. The articles reviewing these bikes are very positive about all the bikes dynamic attributes and the cohesiveness and totality of the design.

While I rather like them and applaud GK Design for their work they still, to me, do not have the visual "pop" of a typical H-D. It seems to my eyes that a less muted choice of color could have gone a long way to further enriching the visual appeal of these bikes. Overall Harley's rich vibrant use of color, even the "vivid black" makes their bikes really snap. These Yamahas simply do not do that either in pictures or 3D on the showroom floor. IMhO Yamaha missed by not using color more aggressively to enhance these new bikes. Maybe next year? DFO :(

I must agree mit herr designer on the Stratoliner. But it seems if ya get to far out of line and do a Rune thing, one gets blasted for going too far. Tis a fine line I guess.

In this vein I'd like to pass along that at the Memphis Art of the Motorcycle show, the Yamaha GTS was alongside the fantastic Britten and on the other side was the Duc 916.I have a pic I'll post as soon as I have it scanned. The folks at the Pyramid where it was held said it was the most unattended show in their history with less than 60K attending over 6 months. Of course Memphis isnt known for its cultural draw.

Anyways, its moving to Orlando in Jan. for a six month run and I'd encourage everyone to attend. If you love motorcycles its just an awesome thing to experience !!!
