Here is a new one for me. Avoided a head on with.... are you ready... a golf cart.

I was out tooling around a lake about 40 miles from my house, basically scouting for some new roads. I am on a lane and a 1/4 country road, you know the type, one car has to pull over to pass. I approach a 90 degree turn in the road and a golf cart from the opposite direction is comming at me. No big deal. He is getting closer (rapidly from my pace). He is really close now and on my half of the small road. His head is looking down the private drive that straightens the 90 from his direction. He is fully out of the 90 driving at me on my side with his head turned 90 behind him. I am breaking and honking hard at this point to which he snaps the wheel and gets over on his side.

Thank goodness neither of us were in a larger auto.

I told my wife. she laughed," I could see the accident report, Hit by a golf cart. You got insurance for that thing"

Glad to hear that you're OK after that close call.

Yes, its true everyone is out to get you. Had an experience today in Centerville.

I wonder if you are having an electrical issue. Are you sure your GPS is working correctly? You said that you were on one of those one lane roads. What? Seems to me you led me and Tommy through somebodys backyard on our ride to Haleyville. I remember you saying that your GPS showed a shortcut.

Two things that I always remember when I get on the bike:

1) Like you said, everyone is out intentionally trying to kill me. At least I think and ride as if...

2) Today might be the day. You just never know when you've hit the start button for the lasst time.

These things help spread my attention to the people and vehicles around me, and keep me riding well within my limits. Imagine if you had been half as distracted as he was. Could have been real ugly.

Glad you made it through.
