My Cruise Control Button began acting up, cleaned up the switch and some little black "crumbles" came out when i blew it out with compressed air.

Switch worked intermittently after that. The down set button was the most affected.

Took the Gray Ghost in to Outdoor Motorsports here in Spearfish.

Troy, the Service Manager, ordered me a new switch. Installed it, problem fixed

Cost ow switch and labor more than i paid for the YES!

I'm good to go now!!!

I have purchased Y.E.S. on four FJRs and two Teneres. I have only used it once that I remember when I had to replace the throttle body on my 07 AE FJR. I think the throttle body was $1400.00 plus labor. I was way ahead of the game on the first Y.E.S. purchase but Yamaha is starting to catch up with me five bikes later. I won't complain that my Yamaha's don't break down though.

I contribute to the corporate YES kitty too. Not often we get to use the plans...good to have it when the need arises!

Glad it worked out BigJohn. Both my FJR and Tenere are under YES now, hoping I don't get the opportunity to use them.

I almost never buy extended warranties, but I did this time on my '16 a model. I hope I never need it, but it's comforting to know it's there. These stories make me glad I did.

I may be doing the same for my mode switch. It always defaults to T mode when I turn the bike off. It also changes modes by being pushed rather than sliding. My local dealer went **** up a few months ago so I'll have to go to Missoula or Great Falls. I'll try cleaning it and will be on the lookout for little black crumbles.

If you aren't willing or capable of doing the labor for repairs and go by the HUGELY inflated warranty prices, sure, it can be worth it. It's a $220 retail part and is a very simple swap. The right side pod is only $107.

The Y.E.S. that I bought for my 06, paid for itself many times over. The dealer that I purchased my new 2016 from, agreed to match the D & H price, although I won't buy it till the 1 yr factory warranty is about up.

I'm not an extended warranty type either, but YES is a freakin bargain in at most states (except Florida). In Canada, you just don't even think about it.

I'm more interested in the switch issues...... what are the black crumbles? Waterproofing membrane breakdown? Other? (Since I won't have YES).

I've never purchased extended warranties. I've never needed extended warranties. Typically, if something goes wrong I will fix it because I can, and I trust the mechanic ;) When I purchased my '04 I didn't know about D&H and didn't see the point of a nearly $800 plan that overlaps Yamaha's warranty by 25%. $800 represents some serious part purchases. Then Yamaha's ****** CCT pointed out to me the error of not buying YES. So, do ya feel lucky?

As Ray mentioned, the YES equivalent is stupid expensive in Canada so I wouldn't go that way. For extended warranties in general, I look at it as insurance and in some cases very high-priced insurance. Overall, the expectation is that you will pay more for the extended warranty that what you will get back. This is especially true for people who are able to do most diagnosis and repair work by themselves.

BUT - You also have to consider consequence of a catastrophic failure vs the cost. I have good insurance on my house although I do not expect to use it but I would be financially devastated in the event of a major fire. I don't do extended warranty on a computer or kitchen appliance - I might be able to fix myself but in any case the consequence of failure is not major.

If I was in a position to get YES on a new FJR at the D&H price, I would go for it as well; especially if I was getting the new and somewhat unknown ES suspension.

Glad that it worked out for you. Future claims are pure gravy at this point.

Don't forget, cause if you do - your chance will be gone....

I said the same thing for my 05 and it escaped me. So I lost my opportunity. Thankfully I never needed it.

I paid right away for my 15, wasn't going to let this one go.

I'm perfectly capable of performing most repairs on my own. I get parts from my old dealership at a substantial discount. I purchased the YES because **** Happens and I may not want to deal with it myself, and, as I am somewhat impetuous the FJR might end up in someone else's hands while I ride a newer one. The YES makes the next owner more comfortable and liklier to buy my bike than a similar one without YES.

Did it the same way (got the Y.E.S. from D & H) when I bought my 06. This should even be easier...since I drive by the place daily.

When I bought Twowheelnuts DL650 the fuel pump immediately became intermittent. The cost to diagnose, replace was ~1200 USD. I was forced to accept that when, looking through the stash o' stuff that accompanied the purchase, I found a Suzuki warranty, still good! Yeah, I'll buy the plans when they are at D&H price points.

Glad to hear YES worked out so well. I also bought YES from D&H. Great price and great people. As others have said, it's good insurance in case of catastrophic failure, as well as a good selling point.

I got good value out of it on my 03 and when we got the Spyder I bought a total of 6 years worth on it. That way as long as I have Payments it's under warranty

I'll be buying the YES for my '15 from D & H shortly; I have until July, but I'm doing it far ahead of that. Never needed anything major for my '07 and it didn't have YES on it (original owner didn't get it). While the FJR is reliable, each bike is different, so having cheap insurance against major items is a no-brainer. I would say given the ES' unknowns in the long term, it's a good idea.
