Does anybody have any experience with the Dunlop D208-ZR Tire? Cycle Gear is running a pre order special on them and I was wondering if it was worth the coin. I have attached the link to the tire below. The only two that they have matched up are the same size as the FJR requires. Thanks in advance for the help. B)

I bought my bike (used) w/ D208's on it. While there was good tread on the tires I had them brake loose on me several times. Twice in dry conditions & once was in the rain under very, very light braking. They had decent tread on them. It's not as if they were bald. Two weeks later they were off of the bike. IMO, this is a heavy bike. THere are only two wheels holding you up. I've gone for the better sport-touring tires since. Never again will trust the 208's.

The 208s I believe have been replaced by the Dunlop Qualifiers. I used to have the 208s on my R6 and liked them very much. However the FJR is too heavy for these tires so I would think they would wear out very quickly. I would guess you'd get 4k miles MAX out of them if that.

Thanks for all the great input. I will stick with the tried and true ones out there. In fact the BT-021's are sounding like a good way to go. :)

I used D205's and D220's on my Concurs and they were the least confidence inspiring tires I have ever owned. They defined cupping they were so bad.

+1 on the D220 front tire cupping, even with a fork brace. They sing a nice tune in the turns. Mileage is good, but the cupping will keep me away in the future.

NO...NO...NO.....They will last longer than 1600 miles. However, yes the bike is a bit to heavy for these tire. Now with that said, it is all I run on my bike. Just did a 4 day trip on these loaded down with no ill effects, from that right to a track day with no problems just a little less air. It is all personnal opinion. These are good sticky tires, if you don't need sticky tires get some sport turing tires that will definitely last longer. :dribble:

Yes, Yes, Yes, 1680 miles what what a rear lasted on my ZX11, there's no reason to think this bike (being heavier) would get much better.

Yes it was a great and very sticky tire, and I loved it for those miles, but that's not what this bike (nor the ZX11) was built for, ST tires are just about as good grip wise (for me) and last 4x or more longer.

But as with all things, it's subjective. Perhaps you can stretch a D208 to 4k miles, but I've yet to meet someone that could, and if you could then IMHO you aren't riding hard enough to need them anyway.
