so Saturday afternoon I am out riding on the NE side of Houston and I stop to get gas where several bikes are stopped. One of them is a nice blue R1.

That group comes over and looks at the '05 FJR and is remarking about how comfortable it looked and how nice it would be to have a taller windscreen.

The R1 ride was saying: "you never see an FJR in the showroom and hardly ever see one on the road".

Just then, in come THREE FJR's, two '04s and a nice '03. So now, the bike you never see one of and suddenly there are four of them in one spot at once.

It gets better - talking to the '03 FJR owner and seems he has just purchased it last month from an individual - and it only had 500 miles on it.

Original owner bought it and two weeks later his wife found out she was pregnant and told him no more motorcycle riding. He kept it for another two years and finally listed it in Cycle Trader and the new owner called him at 0600 in the morning to buy it. Man, four nice looking bikes in one spot.

So, the R1 was fugly eh ? I'm still the only FJR I see out and about unless I'm running with some of the crowd from here. And that only happens during the CFO & WFOs.

HSTA rally in Mena... 92 riders registered, easily a dozen FJRs... plus the Hoons were in Mena too, so there were quite a few buzzing around western Arkansas the last few days...

Probably... was there a BMW riding alongside of me? Dave G. and I were coming back right about then.

It is fun when we get a Northern Ca group ride together and shock the heck out of a solo FJR rider as 6-15 or more FJR's roll by. They always look like they just found their new best friends!

One of the coolest things about the WFO (and I imagine other meets) was approaching the site and seeing more and more FJR's out on the road as people gathered.
