Evening folks.

Just curious if folks with 06 models have , what I would call, excessive windscreen movement. By this I mean you see the screen flop/move about an inch when you are stopped and grab the top and shake it.

The reason I ask is when I go over bumps at relatively low speed, the screen flops around a fair bit and there's the ocasional squeek from the mounting area. My buddies 04 doesn't move nearly as much so I'm just trying to get a feel how the other 06 models are before I go to the dealer.

Wonky doesn't do this, NovaFlyer. I don't notice any movement such as you describe.

Quite frankly, I haven't really looked, either. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few rides and see how it acts.

Nova,

Mine does the same thing. Go down a bumpy road and it rattles a wee bit. I took a look at it and it doesn't seem like anything is out of order, pretty sure that its normal.

Thanx Axe & Kaitsdad.

The movement isn't excessive ... It's just that there's movement when I'd figure there shouldn't be <_< .

Appreciate the feedback guys.

Mine also does flow around a bit on a bumpy road. But it is way more pronounce in the low position. With it raised full up it is fairly rigid.

Evening folks.

Well the dealer had 'er apart today to check out the 'floppin' windscreen. Apparently the 06 models have a completely new mechanised raising/lowering arrangement. The mechanics had it all exposed and tightened the bolts ...all of which were already tight .. and the end result is it still flops. :angry2: The dealer is a good guy and he said that isn't a good set up and has contacted Moma Yama to get some info from them. It's going to be a tough one as the 06 is still new to these shores. What I would recommend is if you find your windscreen flops around ...especially retracted at low speed riding over bumps, then mention it to your dealer so they can start tracking this at headquarters.

My concern is that while it may be a nuisance right now... it can't be good for the mechanical parts over the long haul.

Just a FYI

You need to connect it to a hood to give it more stability. And speaking of stability....the vehicle kind of leans extensively....add a couple of wheels to either side and that will cure that problem. The vehicle is also a bit warm in the summer time so you may want to add an air conditioning system, however, the area will need to be enclosed so that the conditioned air will keep the driver comfortable. Good luck and happy trails with your farkling. Oh, we'll need pics of the finished product, too.....tanks.

Hardie har har Odot. :glare:

Given that the 05 and earlier models don't move at all, I'd figure the change they made may not be for the best....Hence the question. Yamaha was trying to make the Feejr more upscale, yet they seem to have mess'd a couple of the components up. Just my opinion mind you since my buddies 04 and 05 have absolutely no problems what so ever with their windscreens.

ps .... 'All' my bikes have higher annual mileage than my 4 wheel vehicles..... so no ... I'm not trying to make my Feejr into a car :p

I have an '05 with an aftermarket windshield and it flaps around too :angry2: . Checked all the bolts - they seem to be properly tightened. Pretty unpleasant.

I have an '06 and the windshield doesn't move more than my old cruiser's did, at slow or fast speed. Certainly not more than half an inch at most. Something doesn't sound right with your setup. Speaking of sound, I do have an intermittent whistle from the shield.

I own an 06 and have the same whistle. will need to look into further. If you find the problem, let me know and I'll pay the same courtesy back if I can correct.

Mind you I'm still waiting for the snow to melt. Good old London Ont.
