I saw this on the hondapotamus forum and thought I would give it a shot. For $27 fixed my 2730 with a new digitizer screen and it works great!! Took about a week to get it from China.

Hmmm, I think this is in the wrong forum, but I can't figger out how to move it. I'm sure some one will tell me.

Oh sure, now that I spent a pile of money on a new Montana they come out with a replacement digitizer for the streetpilots. I was very happy with the 2730 before the screen went wonky. I think I'll try a couple of these as soon as I get some time to play. Thanks griff.

Thanks for posting, I was gonna ask WTF a 2730 is. Is it like a 710 cap?

I have an extra 2720 atm that I suspect the screen works on. I tried to use it as a fuse and killed the unit itself. If anyone is in dire need of a new 27xx screen it might work.

Ordered. Thanks for the linky thingy. BTW, here's the instructions on how to change the scree once you get it out of the unit. No soldering required on the Streetpilot.

Just repaired my 2730 last night with the new digitizer that arrived while I was running the IBR (with my backup 2720). Easy 10 minute job and it works great. $25 turned a piece of junk back into a functioning device. Cant beat that... Awesome find!

Ordering tonight. Screen works fine, but is pretty scratched up and worn looking. Awesome! Thank you!

Outstand find! Got mine on order. I so like the 2730's over the new stuff that basically only routes you to the next Costco easily

Another one that was glad for this find! Ordered, installed and working great. I had given up on my 2730 when I couldn't find a digitizer and moved on to a Zumo.

When I removed the old digitizer I was surprised at how yellow it had become. Now to see if the bright spot in the central area that showed up when very wet or in very humid conditions goes away.

IIRC, there are 6 screws in the case and 4 screws that hold the PCB and digitizer in place that have to be removed. The old digitizer is held on by a ring of RTV like adhesive that has to be cut as shown in the video. The old digitizer will break when you do this, don't be alarmed and carefully clean up any broken bits. The 2730 digitizer only needs to have one flex circuit plugged into the PCB, no soldering involved. Take care with the rubber weather ring that goes on the digitizer. When you take it apart pay attention to how the rubber gasket goes around the periphery of the case; when putting it back together I found this to be the hardest part of the job.

I installed the digitizer on my old 2730 today. Pretty simple if you watch what you take apart. Be sure and slide the locks up on the ribbon connectors and take your time putting the gaskets back on. No more yellow screen. Just like new.

Looks like the same screen is on Amazon, but no free shipping. That one specifies it works for the 2820.

I didn't see the 2610. I have one of those stuck back in the closet with the screen peeled off. I might fix it just for old times sakes.

I am reviving this old thread because I just repaired two 2720s with this digitizer. I bought the digitizers some time ago but never needed the GPS units so I didn't get around to installing the parts. One of my kids asked if I had an old GPS she could use, so I did the repair this morning.

Anyway, what I discovered is that it was even easier than what is shown in the video above for my 2720s. The new digitizer has a ribbon cable which plugs in where the old one came out. No soldering is necessary. Also, I used a razor knife to separate the old digitizer and it came off without breaking and left a smooth surface.

Yep, I had ribbon cable replacements. I have noticed recently, however, that both of my 2730s act up when I first turn them on. They might be temperature sensitive, or maybe I just did a lousy job of installing the screen. They seem to work ok after a few minutes, but still aggravating.
