Now that I have a hugger I would like to bob the stock rear fender a little. Anyone done it yet? Pictures?

Thanks, cary

I wonder if the hugger will eliminate the tail light sand blasting effect that many have experienced with shortening the fender

Not likely. The rooster tail of "road-splooge" is a function of the tread design and the arc of the diameter of the rear tire throwing said "splooge" as vertical as it can. Since I've "bobbed" my rear fender I notice a bit more stuff on my tail lenses and topcase.

I'm afraid the solution is a fender extension of some kind. Did you notice Warchild's on his bike?

Whoa!

Between that and man breasts I'm not sure I joined the right FJR Group.

Then again, I own a Village People CD so........... ;)

Warchild's Fender

My dealer here in Southern Oregon put me in touch with a local aftermarket company who is interested in using my '06 FJR as a test bike to make a bobbed rear fender conversion. But they say they are backed up with sport bike projects until October. If anything comes of it I'll post. IMHO, the only truly ugly thing about this bike is the rear fender. Of course it is functional, but DAMN butt ugly.

Thanks for the pictures :yahoo: . Looks much better...now will the hugger help with water strips???

Thanks, Cary

Sorry for the hijack,

I too have been interested in a bobbed rear with a hugger. Be careful. There have been some quality and fitment issues with the hugger. Here's a link to some people's experiences:

and the thread continued here:

caveat emptor

Yep I have one and I posted my install.

You guys kill me. Are you also the ones selling bikes "never ridden in rain"? :yahoo:

Take a sawsall and go for it if looks are all that matters to you.

Rotational spray will go verticle immediatly after the end of the hugger. If the hugger is shorter than what's left of the tail, (aren't they all?), well there you go.

I ride year round in Oregon. Just never on a bike with an ugly tail end. We are looking for solutions. Got any? Get off the high horse, will ya?
