which windscreen?

I inherited two windscreens when i got my 2004: a stock one and one that's taller, wider, and has a forward curl at the upper edge. This one really blocks out the wind when it's 2/3 up, but it creates a nasty buffeting and a serious vacuum that pulls me forward and in winter sends a cold draft up the back of my jacket. It's stifling hot behind that thing now. I've replaced it with the smaller, stock one, which really seems most useful all the way down, where the wind noise is awful.

There's no writing on the bigger one. Anyone have a clue as to what make it might be?

Any hints on a summer screen that 1) quiets things down, and 2) allows good ventilation?

From what I read, the smaller windshield is probably stock and the larger one is like mine, a CeeBaileys +4+2Flip.

Most use the smaller shield for the summer weather and the larger one for the winter weather. On the larger one, you can cut holes just above the W bracket, which will reduce the buffeting you are experiencing. It could be a Givi. Mine is about 2 inches taller and 1 inch wider on each side than stock IIRC with a bit of a flip. Its a little thinner than stock, prolly 3/16".

If its much thicker than stock, its probably a CeeBaileys.

Is it quiet(er) if you stand on the pegs with the screen down? That's what you get if you cut about 6" off a stock screen. That and a whole lotta ventilation. You should try Skyway's spacers while you're at it.

As for the back pressure with the big screen, you could try cutting Calsci type holes in it. That really works wonders on for eliminating back pressure and buffeting. Jeffashe did a good photo documentary here
